Hello everyone,

We’ve made it to Winter Break! This time of year can be exciting, challenging, and stressful for many of us. I hope you find some time to relax and enjoy the moments. When we return from break, the rest of the school year will go by quickly, starting with midterm exams in January.

I want to take a moment to showcase our dynamic students. CMS students were able to participate in Trunk or Treat and the Merry Market. The feedback we received about student behavior, and they respect they showed was amazing. We are so proud of our students and how they handle themselves.

The exam schedule is as follows:

- **January 22nd** 1st and 2nd Hour Classes for 7th and 8th Graders

- **January 23rd** 3rd and 4th Hour Classes for 7th and 8th Graders

- **January 24th** 5th and 6th Hour Classes for 7th and 8th Graders

Please note that our 6th graders do not take mid-year or final exams.

Absenteeism is a significant factor affecting academic success. Next month, we will launch an incentive program encouraging students to be present at school every day. Students will earn a "Golden Ticket," which can be used for an assignment if they only miss one day or have one tardy between January 6th and January 31st. The Golden Ticket will be valid from February 3rd to March 28th.

Chronic absenteeism is a concern at CMS. Currently, 166 students have missed between 10% and 19% of school, while another 48 students have missed more than 20% this year. I am challenging students, parents, and guardians to start the school year to attend school every day and be on time for class.

Out PTO worked to distribute all of the Gourmet Apples that were ordered this week. Thank you for all of the orders and your help in supporting CMS students.
