Term 1 Week 4 Friday 28th February
Tumuaki Pānui
Kia ora koutou
What a fantastic evening on Wednesday at the Turnbull Cup Swimming Competition. We had 6 swimmers competing and I am so proud of all of them. The relay team came second in the small schools final and made it into the final for the small schools versus large schools, congratulations team. Four of the six swimmers made their individual finals with Calvin coming second in Year 8 Boys, congratulations Calvin.
We have started this week with a brain food snack at the end of Te reo time. This week we have had popcorn, cucumber (thank you to the Jacobson family), and pears (thank you to the Bielski family). Moving forward could you please place a brain food snack in your child’s lunchbox for any day when we do not have kai to share. Preferably similar items to those above, nothing sticky or too sugary, thank you. The students have said this “fills a hole in their tummy’s between breakfast and morning tea” at 10.45am.
ERO – Education Review Office. ERO visit schools usually on a three-year cycle. They will be visiting our school on Tuesday 11th March – Wednesday 12th March. Their purpose is to “review the performance and assess the quality of pre-tertiary education providers in relation to the educational services they provide”. Their visit does not interrupt what happens in the classes or at school. As principal and as teachers it is an opportunity for an outside lens to look at what we are doing and work with us to set a direction moving forward.
Choir and Kapa Haka will start up once swimming finishes. A separate form will come home regarding this. If you child/ren would like the opportunity to have a go at either of these this is the term. From next term all students signed up for Kapa Haka or Choir will be expected to remain in the group until the end of the year as the groups prepare for the annual performance events. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.
Have a great weekend.
