Welcome to another exciting chapter at RMSST. As we gear up for the upcoming school year, we are more committed than ever to challenging our students, embracing new opportunities, and striving for distinction in all we do. This July, we invite you to join us for our Open House, where you’ll get a firsthand look at how we are preparing the next generation of STEM leaders. From innovative programs to dedicated faculty, we are here to inspire curiosity, foster innovation, and ensure every student is ready to confidently navigate and lead in a dynamic world. Let's make this year one of growth and achievement together!
New School Year, New Look
For our eagle eyed readers and those interested in graphic design, we made 6 changes to the layout for the 2024-2025 template for. Magnet News. How many can you identify? First person to email Mrs. Baskett with 5 of the 6 changes correct gets a gift bag with Magnet Swag!
Keep your eyes peeled throughout the semester for little trivia questions hidden within the Magnet News as we want to encourage our students and families to stay aware of the great things happening at Magnet!
Open House Details- Please note the times for your grade level meeting
All Magnet families are asked to check-in at the Magnet Front lobby to receive important forms and the most recent, printed version of your student's schedule.
During your Open House visit, families and students will participate in the activities below:
- Attend your student’s Grade Level Meeting in the Cafetorium
- 9th grade meeting: 6:45 pm - 7:05 pm
- 10th grade meeting: 4:45 pm - 5:05 pm
- 11th grade meeting: 5:10 pm - 5:30 pm
- 12th grade meeting: 7:10 pm - 7:30 pm
- Visit your student’s classrooms to meet their teachers (visit their RCHS teachers as well).
- 10th & 11th grade families are asked to visit Magnet teachers and attend their 20-minute grade level meetings from 4:30-5:30pm
- 9th and 12th grade families are asked to visit Magnet teachers and attend their 20-minute grade level meetings from 6-7:30pm
- This will allow families a chance to visit with teachers at RCHS and/or RCA also and time for the parking lot to clear between groups.
- Visit the Transportation table, located in ROOM 803, for bus route information (bus stop location and times).
- Speak with a Rockdale Magnet Fund representative in the Innovation Hive (ROOM 810) regarding student fees and parent volunteer opportunities. Additionally, the Class of 2025 Seniors will receive their class t-shirt in this location.
- If you have questions or concerns regarding your student’s schedule, please visit the Wellness Room (ROOM 807) to speak with a counselor.
School Supply List by Teacher and Course
Clear Bookbags are required
RCPS requires clear bookbags for all students in grades 1-12. Find specific guidelines here: Clear Bookbags FAQs - Rockdale County Public Schools (rockdaleschools.org) Families are responsible for purchasing a clear bookbag for their student(s).
Transportation Information available online
Visit the RCPS Transportation website to get school bus pick up and drop off times and locations. Find you child’s bus information here: RCPS Transportation Website
Class Schedules will be live on Thursday, July 18th. Schedule changes will only be reviewed for errors or duplicate credits.
Class schedules can be viewed in Infinite Campus starting this Thursday, July 18th.
If you have an error on your schedule (i.e.: a graduation requirement course that is missing, or a class on your schedule where you have already earned credit previously), then please submit our online Schedule Change Request form at this link for the counselors and administrative team to review your request.
The only changes that will be approved at this time are corrections of errors on the schedule. Teacher preference and time of day or A/B day preference will not be considered. Elective changes and level of course changes (i.e.: non-AP to AP level course) will be considered on a limited basis depending on availability in our overall school schedule and student advisement needs.
Annual Updates must be completed to view schedules and receive laptops - please log in to Parent Portal to complete
Thank you to the 85%+ of Magnet Families who have completed Annual Updates. Our goal is to have 100% by the end of Open House as there will be a station available for families who may have technical challenges with the instructions below. We encourage all families to complete it in advance to have more time to visit at Open House AND ensure a smooth laptop distribution process.
It’s time to complete your Annual Student Update in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
We encourage you to complete your Annual Update as soon as possible to avoid delays.
An Annual Update is required for each student to receive an RCPS laptop or iPad and to access online instructional programs for the 24-25 school year.
- Log in to the Parent Portal (www.rockdaleschools.org/infinitecampus)
- Click on the 3 lines in the top left corner.
- Click MORE at the bottom of the list.
- Click ANNUAL UPDATES AND REGISTRATION.
- Choose 24-24 SCHOOL YEAR ANNUAL UPDATE.
- Click START and then BEGIN REGISTRATION.
- Review the information for ALL STUDENTS in your household.
- NOTE: Names cannot be changed in an Annual Update. Please contact Student Registration if the name of a student or parent/guardian in your application has changed or is incorrect.
- When you are finished, click SUBMIT.
- Please wait for the message “Thank you for completing Online Registration for Rockdale County Public Schools” to confirm your update has been received. It can take 15-20 seconds for this message to appear.
- During the school year, please use this same process to update your address, phone numbers, emergency contacts, and student health information.

Precalculus & AP Precalculus Summer Assignment:
A summer enrichment activity has been built to help prepare all students who will be taking Precalculus and AP Precalculus starting in August. While it is optional, it is strongly encouraged and Mrs. Baskett will be sharing a thank you treat to those who opt in to participate. Please see the instructions below.

Seniors: Submit your junior year research project to the Regeneron Science Talent search!
The Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) is the nation's oldest science research competition for high school seniors. We're seeking the next generation of leaders in STEM - and giving $3.1 million in awards.
Applicants and supportive adults are encouraged to attend the STS webinar events - sign up here to join the first session on Wednesday, July 17 at 8pm ET they discuss eligibility questions and share favorite rules tips.

Magnet Families- Please use next school year's calendar as you plan. It is key that students are at school every day that they are well. Research shows that attendance in class is a key predictor for success.
