Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We will continue MAP testing this week. The MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessment is an essential tool that helps us measure your child’s academic growth and understanding in key areas such as reading and mathematics.
MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) is a computerized adaptive assessment that measures your child’s reading and math knowledge. All students are asked the same number of questions, but the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions become more difficult. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions become easier and then become progressively more challenging. This enables the assessment to precisely identify the full spectrum of a student’s strengths and weaknesses. MAP tests are aligned with the national Common Core Standards. Students will experience responses in multiple choice, hot spot, drag-and-drop, and click-and-pop formats to better measure some of the more complex Common Core Standards. Although the assessments are not timed, it usually takes students about one hour to complete each assessment. Students taking Primary MAP (first and second grade) usually take 20 to 30 minutes to complete each assessment
We encourage you to talk with your child about the importance of doing their best during this assessment. Remind them that it’s an opportunity to showcase their knowledge and identify growth areas.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we can ensure our students have a successful and enriching learning experience.
Warm regards,
Will Zwingmann, Ed.S.
