A Great Summer of Learning
It’s been a great summer for District 91! The district hosted two summer school programs, one for high school students and one for elementary students. High school students were able to earn credits toward graduation. The high school summer school included an intervention day to provide extra support for students who needed additional help to learn course concepts. Student motivation was high as students made up credits. The really good news is that the credits earned at summer school will count toward graduation.
The elementary summer school program was filled with reading and exciting enrichment activities. Students have strengthened their reading and writing skills and used technology to practice their new reading skills. Through a partnership with the Art Museum of Idaho Falls and the leadership of Alexa Stanger, the Art Museum director, students learned art history and created masterpieces of their own. Dr. Shropshire, an ISU physics professor, taught students about force and trajectory as they launched rockets. Students were also able to visit the Idaho Falls Library to check out some delicious books.
It is exciting to see that summer doesn’t stop learning and growing for D91 students. Thank you, Michael Keyes, high school principal, and Thomas Kennedy and Tawnya Scherck, elementary summer school administrators, for the incredible leaders and teachers who made this learning experience possible!
Have a great weekend!
