CAFETERIA
We'd love to have you help out during lunch
As the weather starts to change, some of our students would rather stay inside. In order to accommodate students who want to stay inside and others that would like to go outside, we will need to have three adults present for safety. Please consider helping out.
Thank you so much to those who have been able to volunteer and help out in the lunchroom. It is such a blessing to have dedicated family members who are willing to help out!
A Note from the Cafeteria
Lunch order for the week of 5/20-5/23 is due on Monday, 5/13 by noon.
Thanks for Remembering Teacher Appreciation Week!
Thank you on behalf of all of our teachers for the fabulous snacks, lunches, gifts & notes provided for Teacher Appreciation Week! If you haven’t already joined us in giving a round of applause to our extraordinary teachers, we invite students, parents, community members, and colleagues to join in celebrating their favorite teachers by sending along a “virtual high-five". Share a story of how an SMS teacher has made a positive impact on your life or the life of your child, or simply express your gratitude for their tireless efforts. It’s free, and only takes a few minutes, but would really make our teachers smile! Your virtual high five/message will be delivered directly to your teacher with care, and may also be featured on our website or social media channels. Let's show our teachers just how much they are valued and appreciated!
YEARBOOK
We have contacted Lifetouch since we have heard nothing about yearbook orders. They are sending us the order form. Look for it to come home early next week. You MUST pre-order yearbooks, they are not available for purchase at the school.
Please Update Your VIRTUS Account
Every May there is an audit run for our VIRTUS Protecting God's Children Accounts. Please take a few minutes to be sure that you are current in reading your bulletins and that you have completed the Background Check information if it comes up when you sign in. Your account needs to be current in order to be able to volunteer at school.

Teachers are #Buzzworthy too! Mrs. G Receives the Golden Apple Award.
Mrs. Karen Genovese, who we have known and loved here at SMS for 22 years, was recognized by the Diocese of Buffalo for her amazing contributions to education. Mrs. Genovese was presented the Golden Apple Award by Dr. Timothy Uhl, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, in a special school assembly this week. The Golden Apple Award is a recognition created by the diocese in 2023 to honor teachers who go above and beyond in their school communities by living out the Catholic faith, exemplifying a growth mindset, and implementing creative instructional strategies to build student engagement. THANK YOU Mrs. G, for being you, and being wonderful! Mrs. Genovese was one of only THREE teachers to receive this honor in our entire Diocese!
Has your student (or alumnus) achieved something notable recently? If so, tell us about it! We’d love to share their “buzz worthy” news on social media or in an upcoming “What’s the Buzz” newsletter. Email photos and a short description to buzzworthy@stmaryschoolswormville.org.
Please take your items!
Our lost & found tote box near the water fountain by the gym has recently been overflowing! Please take a look at the photos below, and if you see something that belongs to your family, email office@stmaryschoolswormville.org to have it sent home with your student, or have you or your student pick it up next time you are on campus. Larger versions of the below photos can also be found posted in the parent/guardian Facebook group. Any items still left at the end of the school year will be donated to the gently used uniform sale or St. Vincent De Paul.
Thank you to all of our volunteers, parents & students, especially the co-chairs Leigh Ann Urbanski & Jill Papke, who made the Father/Daughter Dance another success for our SMS Girls!
