Message from our principal
Dear Families,
This time of year can be exhilarating for our students, and it can be very hectic. Some students can find the holiday breaks and schedule changes hard to navigate. As parents and educators, our roles are to support our young people by providing as much consistency and structure during this season as possible. At home, we try to keep the daily routines as much as possible, and in the classroom, we aim to maintain our daily structure and routines. Of course, we all enjoy our breaks and rejuvenating, but consistent routines provide us comfort.
Friday, December 3, 2021, you will receive your child's report cards electronically. I have reviewed these reports by grade level, and I am pleased with our students' growth and progress. Please take time to review and praise your child for doing their best work. Focus on their strengths and what they have enjoyed learning. Discuss if they have a personal goal they would like to set for the coming trimester. Set a goal based on taking a risk and trying something new this trimester. Take the initiative to make a new friend. Read a book of their choosing. Join a club at Crocker. Taking time to discuss these concrete goals helps keep your child motivated and engaged in their learning and builds their capacity as lifelong learners.
With gratitude,
Maria Brady
ALLOCATIONS: IDEAS FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS WANTED!
Deadline December 17
What is Allocations? Allocations is money that accumulates from excess funds generated from the prior year(s)’ operating budget (parent dues less expenses for that year). Allocations money is directed to one-time expenditures used to improve the environment for students and staff. Past examples include: greenhouse, outdoor seating, water bottle filler and doormats for the classrooms.
What to do: All ideas, big or small, are welcome and encouraged. Please send suggestions to Katrina Reynolds at crockertreasurer@gmail.com no later than December 17. Crocker Staff and Student Council will also be asked for input.
Allocations Process (warning, bit boring!): Traditionally each fall, the Allocations committee - headed by the CPG Treasurer, select Board Members and the principal - meet to review ideas generated by the Crocker Community, then propose their recommendations to the parents for vote and approval.
