CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
Our 7th and 8th grade Boat Builders have been hard at work and have just completed their first project! Over the course of this year they will learn the local history of Maritime woodwork and use traditional carpentry skills to construct wooden stools, tool boxes, a half-model ship, as well as two skiffs.
NO SCHOOL: TUES, 11/5
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS ENDS
Remember to set your clocks back one hour this Sunday, 11/3 as we observe the end of Daylight Savings Time!
As winter creeps nearer and mornings get darker, it is a good time to think about how to increase your student's visibility at the bus stop. Reflective bands or clip on lights will make it easier for the school bus and other drivers to see kids waiting at their stop.
LOST & FOUND
Any unclaimed or unlabeled items will be donated after Thanksgiving break.
MAMMALS OF MAINE
HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS
Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections have increased significantly across the United States this fall. Here at WCS, we continue to see many students and staff with respiratory infections caused by this bacteria. You can learn more about symptoms, prevention strategies and when to seek medical care here. Keeping up to date with immunizations, practicing good hand hygiene, and staying home when you’re sick will help us all stay healthier! 🤧🥵🤮🤢 . . . .😬
MIDDLE SCHOOL CASTS THEIR VOTE
The Maine Student Mock Election was held this Tuesday, with our middle school students participating in the voting process. We are proud of how seriously the students took their voting responsibility as well as how the 8th grade ran the voting process - checking in voters, distributing ballots, collecting ballots, and passing out "I Voted" stickers. Our voting tallies were sent to the Maine Secretary of State's office. Across Maine over 20,000 votes were cast from 115 schools. The results of this year's Maine Student Election are as follows:
- 1st Congressional District: Chellie Pingree - 40.9%
- 2nd Congressional District: Jared Golden - 49.3%
- U.S. Senate - Angus King - 45%
- Presidential Race - Donald Trump/J.D. Vance - 52%
