A letter to the Class of 2024
Dear Graduating Seniors,
As I pen this letter, I am filled with a mixture of emotions – joy, pride, and a tinge of sadness. Graduation is indeed a bittersweet moment, marking the end of one incredible chapter in your lives and the beginning of a new and exciting journey.
Throughout your time at Demopolis High School, you have shown immense perseverance, dedication, and resilience. You've tackled challenges head-on, overcome obstacles, and emerged stronger and wiser. Each step you've taken, every hurdle you've cleared, has brought you closer to this moment.
Parents, teachers, and mentors have walked alongside you, supporting and guiding you every step of the way. They have watched you grow, learn, and evolve into the remarkable individuals you are today. Remember to express your gratitude to them, for their unwavering belief in your potential and their unconditional love and support.
As you stand on the precipice of this new chapter, embrace the opportunities that lie ahead with courage and optimism. Your journey doesn't end here; it's just beginning. Whether you're heading off to college, entering the workforce, or pursuing other endeavors, know that you are well-equipped to face whatever challenges come your way.
But as you embark on this new adventure, don't forget to cherish the memories you've created and the friendships you've forged here. Hold onto them tightly as you navigate the uncertainties of the future. And remember, no matter where life takes you, you will always be a part of our school community – a community that celebrates your successes, supports you in times of need, and welcomes you back with open arms. "Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger."
So, as you walk across the stage on Friday, and into the next chapter of your lives, know that you carry with you the hopes and dreams of all who have supported you along the way. Congratulations, Class of 2024! May your future be filled with endless possibilities, boundless opportunities, and immense joy.
With heartfelt congratulations and best wishes,
Mrs. Gantt

DHS receives state and national recognitions
Demopolis High School named a National Model School by the The Center for Model Schools and a CLAS School of Distinction
Demopolis High School has recently received recognition from two esteemed organizations, namely, The Center for Model Schools and the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools. This recognition stems from the implementation of a program known as Student Success Teams. Under this initiative, all members of the DHS community are a part of a grade level team that works together to identify students who may require assistance in areas such as attendance, behavior, coursework, or connectedness.
Quarterly meetings are held by grade level teams to discuss strategies for supporting students in need. Team members then select a student or students to mentor. The positive outcomes of this program are evident in a significant reduction in chronic absenteeism, as indicated by State Report Card data. Moreover, stronger connections between students and their mentors have been established, along with improvements in various indicators, including academic growth and achievement.
Although the program was not initiated with the primary goal of gaining recognition, it is gratifying to witness the DHS family being acknowledged for their efforts beyond the classroom. Congratulations to the DHS family on these remarkable achievements.
On May 6th, Demopolis High School will be recognized at the CLAS awards ceremony and on June 23-26, a team from DHS will be presenters at the Model Schools Conference in Orlando, FL.
