Bobcat Beat
Principal's Message
Happy Sunday, Bobcats!
Hopefully you're all beating the heat. It's been pretty brutal, but the kids are handling it great! Monday and Tuesday look to be a little warm, but the rest of the week looks beautiful. My plan is to have students play outside during recess Monday as it won't be as bad as last week. I will play it by ear for lunch. If it's too hot, we'll be eating and hanging out indoors. Your child's safety and well being is our top priority. Please remind your child to drink plenty of water.
Do you want to be more involved with our school and district decisions? Please see the links in the messages below regarding School Site Council and District Advisory Committee. These are very important positions in making safety and financial decisions for our school site. Please consider being a part of these councils. Like Uncle Sam once said, "I Want You!" (to be a part of our team).
Here's to a great week ahead of us!
Go Bobcats!
Mr. Higgins

Have you joined the PTA?
Please consider joining our PTA. This is a great way to support our school and have a voice in where money is directed. For just $15 for each adult in your family, you'll be signed up for the year. Other family members can join as well. PTA helps with funding classrooms, assemblies, and school-wide events. Your support goes a long way. See the link at the bottom of this newsletter to connect to the PTA website.
PTA Bobcat No Fuss Fundraiser
It used to be called the Bobcat Buyout, the No Fuss Fundraiser is one of our largest fundraisers of the year next to the Jog-A-Thon. This No Fuss Fundraiser not only helps support the many programs at our school: assemblies, Meet the Masters Art program, Red Ribbon Week activities, supplementing field trip costs and school supplies, but it was also a way to remove families feeling obligated to participate in the different fundraisers throughout the year such as wrapping paper sales, popcorn and/or cookie sales, etc. Your donation will help support the programs that will enrich our students' school experience.
Yes, there are other fundraisers that do happen throughout the year, but these are specific to help support 5th grade to offset the cost of Outdoor Ed when they attend once they're in 6th grade.
9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
Are you, or someone you know, a first responder or a member of the military (active, reserved, or retired)? If so, we would love to honor your service to our country during our annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. If you are able to join us on the morning of Wednesday, September 11 at 8:10-8:45, please fill out the form linked HERE and below. We would like to recognize your service to our school community. Additionally, you are welcomed to wear your uniform too. Thank you for your service.
NEW - Calling all Scouts, Brownies, Daisies, and Guides
I would like to invite any member of Scouts, Brownies, Daisies, and Guides to join us in helping to honor our 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, September 11. If you would like to participate, please wear your uniform and join Mr. Higgins at the podium to lead our school in the Pledge of Allegiance.
NEW - Restaurant Night MONDAY
NEW - UPDATED Ice Cream Social Date
Let's try this again when it won't be so hot!
NEW - 5th Grade Parent Fundraising Meeting
Are you a parent of a 5th grader? Please join us for a virtual meeting on Wednesday (see an email from me earlier today for the details) to go over some questions and answers you may have about fundraising for when your child is in 6th grade and will attend Outdoor Ed.
Guarantee of Free Public Education
As a reminder, Chapman Hills Elementary School, a public school, provides a free and appropriate education to our students. Public schools may solicit and accept donations from parents or the community, as long as it is voluntary and contributing is not a requirement for participating in an educational activity. Field trip fees are considered donations. No children are excluded due to financial hardship. If we experienced a large decrease in these donations, future field trips and activities would be eliminated.
Volunteer Application
If you are interested in volunteering in our school at any capacity, you must go through the Volunteer Application process each year (even if you've done it before). Click on the link below to start the process. You will have to upload proof of the certificates as well as your driver's license. There is no need to send any documents to our office - it will be done all through the Raptor system.
You cannot volunteer unless this process is complete. Because the process can take some time to go through the proper channels, I suggest to work on it now. If you need assistance, please call our front office, 714-532-8043

Join our PTA - Support our School
Please consider joining the PTA. Your membership helps support so many of the programs at our school. It also gives you an active voice in decision making at our PTA meetings. I also encourage you to help volunteer your time on the many committees we have: Red Ribbon Week, Carnival, and Trunk or Treat to name a few.
