St. Maria Goretti Catholic School aims to form what is True, Good, and Beautiful in the souls of our young disciples of Christ.
Principal's Message
Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,
I hope that you are enjoying your summer break and making lots of great memories.
We are still looking for a member to join the Home and School Executive Board. This is a great way to serve your school community, and an easy way to get to know all of the school families. If you are someone you know is interested please email me.
Don't forget about your summer reading! All summer reading assignments can be found in this edition of the Trojan Times.
Please note that all students are required to have the round patch on their sweaters this year. Sweaters are the only outer wear allowed to be worn during the school day. If an old patch is on the sweater the student will be asked to remove it until the correct one is on. All students must have the correct patch on their sweaters for the first Mass in October. Patches can be purchased at Dennis Uniforms (formally known as Mills Uniforms). Thank you for your help with this.
You may have noticed we will NOT be purchasing school supplies for the students for the 2024-2025 school year. Parents will have to get the supplies for their students for the upcoming school year. Happy shopping.
As our fiscal year is wrapping up we are so thankful for the almost $161,000 we have raised in our annual appeal. Our appeal officially ends on June 30, 2024. If you or someone you know would like to make a donation please use the link in this edition of the Trojan Times. All funds are being used to fund our new playground.
SMG is defending our title in this year's Arlington Independence Day Parade! The parade will take place on Thursday, July 4th, 2024. Parents and students of all ages are invited to ride and walk along with our AMAZING SMG parade float! If your family would like to participate, please sign up here: https://forms.gle/yjuhTPSt3JrmSgKn9 More information will provided closer to the 4th of July.
The school office will be closed from June 24, 2024 through July 5, 2024. We will resume our summer office hours on July 8, 2024.
Enjoy the time off. Send any vacation photos to photos@smgschool.org.

2024-2025 Summer Reading Lists
With the love of reading as our goal, here are the required and recommended summer readings. Please refer to the grade-level your child will be entering in the fall. Help with the summer slide and encourage your kids to read over the summer!
In addition to building wonder through reading, there are also some more practical benefits. Students who enjoy reading for pleasure typically do better in school, developing stronger skills in writing, spelling, and comprehension without even realizing it. Studies show students who enjoy reading also do better in math and science, because reading develops logic and thinking skills.
