LAUNCH Information (July)
Launch July Session Dates: July 8-Aug 2
DROPPING A VIRTUAL SUMMER SCHOOL CLASS: Per KHS drop policy, if students drop after 10 days they will receive an F in the class and the grade will be transcripted.
July 19th, 2024, at 11:59 pm, is the last day to drop a July LAUNCH class for no penalty.
The virtual Pioneer eLearning Academy (PeLA) classes are taught by a KHS teacher, on Schoology, and are completely asynchronous. The classes offered in June include, lifetime fitness, health, and personal finance (personal finance is the only PeLA class offered for dual credit). Please note, Personal Finance is not allowed for incoming 9th graders to take.
Launch classes are available in June and July and are also online and asynchronous, but taught by a teacher from Springfield Public Schools. There are an array of summer courses available on Launch. Again, students can’t enroll in both Launch and PeLA platforms in June and only Launch classes are available in July. For more information about the courses, please visit: https://fueledbylaunch.com/summer/
If your student failed a core class during the 2023 - 2024 school year and needs to recover that credit, KHS Summer School Principal Mr. Phil Deist, will be in contact with you. Students who fail a core class are ineligible to take any enhancement PeLA or Launch classes in June.

MSB Rising Fee Cost
Please review the information below from the KSD finance department and MySchoolBucks:
Due to rising payment processing interchange fees and continued increases in operational costs, we’re updating the MySchoolBucks program fee that parents and guardians pay at checkout to $3.25 for all cafeteria credit/debit card prepayments beginning on July 11th. If your district accepts e-checks, the program fee for electronic check payments will increase to $2.75 per meal payment on the same date. This adjustment to our program fee for school meals is necessary to continue providing you and your families with the best and most secure online payment experience, while continuing to maintain the highest levels of data privacy.
The program fee is designed to cover the costs of providing the optional MSB services and includes a variety of items, including payment processing costs, live parent and school support, compliance and information security requirements, as well as the software used to manage meal payments.
