A Message from Ms. Cruz
Welcome to Week 36!
We hope this message finds you well! May is a busy and exciting time at school, filled with celebrations, events, and meaningful learning.
This week, we’re recognizing and celebrating our incredible support staff during Classified Appreciation Week! From our office team and paraprofessionals to custodians, cafeteria workers, and more—these dedicated individuals help keep our school running smoothly and support students every single day. If you have a moment, we encourage you and your child to share a thank-you note or a kind word with a classified staff member this week. Your appreciation goes a long way!
We’re also thrilled to invite you to our upcoming Open House! Families will have the opportunity to visit classrooms and see the amazing work students have been doing all year long. It’s a chance to celebrate their growth, creativity, and learning alongside their teachers and peers.
And don’t forget—Lunch on the Lawn is this Friday! Pack a lunch and bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy a picnic-style meal with your child. It’s a fun and relaxed way to spend time together during the school day and connect with other families.
As we approach the end of the school year, students will be taking their final iReady Reading and Math Diagnostic Assessments. These assessments are important tools that help us understand each student’s growth and guide future instruction. Please help your child come to school well-rested and ready to give it their best—this is their time to shine!
Finally, we’d like to wish a heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms, grandmothers, and mother figures in our community. Your love and support mean the world, and we hope you enjoy a beautiful and relaxing day.
Thank you for being such an essential part of our school family. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Friendly Reminder:
If your child will be absent for any reason, please make sure to call the school office to report the absence. This helps us keep accurate attendance records and ensures that we can support your child in making up any missed work or assessments.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and school community. Together, we are helping every Davis Tiger grow, succeed, and shine!
Have a great week, Davis Tigers! Go to Davis, Go to College!

Chromebooks
Chromebooks are essential tools for learning in the classroom, used for various applications and tasks. To ensure students have access to the necessary resources, it is expected that students bring their fully charged Chromebooks to school each day. Please note that there is a limited number of loaner devices available. If your student has lost or damaged their Chromebook, please notify their teacher as soon as possible so that the device can be repaired or replaced.
More information about Chromebooks and the Chromebook Care Plan can be found by clicking here.
Volunteering
Adults interested in volunteering in their student's classroom or chaperoning a field trip will need to complete the Volunteer Request Form and be fingerprinted. Please connect with your student's teacher to determine volunteer opportunities. We are currently seeking volunteers to support in supervision of students during lunch between 10:30 am - 1:00 pm. If you are available, please contact the office or scan the QR code.
Morning Dropoff
Please remember that the front gate does not open until 7:40 am as there is no supervision for students prior to this time. It is important that students come to school dressed appropriately, including wearing school-appropriate shoes. If your student comes to school in Crocs or sandals, they will be asked to sit out PE and may not go in the barkbox or onto the fields during recess due to safety concerns.
Students who wish to eat breakfast in the cafeteria should arrive no later than 7:45 am. For students arriving by bus, please proceed immediately to the cafeteria. The cafeteria will be cleared out 15 minutes after the latest bus arrives to ensure that students do not miss instructional time.
Lunch Options For The Week
Picking Students Up
Please remember that if your student has not yet been dismissed and you are in the loading zone, staff will be asking you to park or loop around to allow other parents to load their students who are waiting. We also ask that you model safe behaviors and use the crosswalk. Our Tigers know this is a Tiger Tenet and a way to be safe!
We thank you for your patience and for working with our staff to ensure dismissal occurs smoothly.
Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
If your student will be out, be sure to call the office at 209-953-8301 to report your their absence. Students who have a medical or dental appointment will need to bring a note from their doctor upon their return.
Additionally, it is important your student arrives on time, ready to learn. School starts at 8:00 am and students are expected to be in their classes at this time.
