AROUND THE CLASSROOMS
I observed students....
- practicing forming their numbers correctly
- learning the letter/sound and using what they know to label a drawing
- demonstrating good listening skills
- Physical Education, Mr. Smith: We’ve introduced a range of exciting and interactive games that are both fun and educational. One standout activity is a creative twist on the classic Alarm Clock game. This game reinforces students' understanding of their designated spots so they know where to go when they enter class, while also encouraging physical activity, coordination, and quick thinking. The game begins with students pretending to sleep in their spots (they had a lot of fun doing this and even joked about snoring like their parents, which gave us all a good laugh!). When the “alarm clock” goes off (music plays on the speakers), students “wake up,” move freely around the gym to the music, then freeze when the music stops and return to their spots by tip-toeing. To add a challenge, I call out colors and shapes for specific spots, prompting only those students to move while everyone else remains in place. A fun surprise was seeing many students take the opportunity to show off their dance moves, highlighting their creativity and enthusiasm. The activity was a hit, as everyone remembered their spots in the next class, making both the students and me very proud!
- In Art & Music last week, we read "The Dot" and created our own artwork with paint sticks, beginning with just a dot! This week, we will begin to explore musical opposites together, starting with loud and quiet.
FREQUENT FLYERS
PTO PLACE
- Volunteers: We have many volunteer opportunities to get involved with the school and students-events both big and small! Check our Instagram and Facebook page for details on how to get involved in making this school year extra special or find us at Back to School Night for more information.
- Dues: Thank you so much for those who have contributed to the PTO so far - however we are still quite short of our goal! All funds go directly back to the school and help fund so many great programs for the students. Please consider contributing so we can achieve our fundraising goals. You can do this via venmo (@Lindsay-McCulla), cash or check. Reach out to jpc.pto.summit@gmail.com.
