Principal Message
What a great start we have had to the 2024- 2025 school year! The student's are settling in, routines and expectations have been taught and are continually being reviewed. It's been an amazing start!
Attendance
One major thing we need your support with is attendance, including tardies and early check outs. We are having over 60 students a day come in late, this impacts instruction greatly.
Please see the image below on how absences add up. Students are also coming late and checking out early, these minutes add up. Please problem solve to get your students here on time and help us by having them stay the entire day.

Counselor's Corner
Meet the Counselor- Mrs. Tapia
Hello! My name is Mrs. Tapia. I am excited for this school year! This is my 5th year at Woodland Elementary. I received my bachelor's and master's degrees from Florida State University. Go Noles! I have 2 daughters, one in 9th grade and one in 7th grade. I enjoy spending time with family, going to the beach and the mountains. I also like baking and crafting.
I provide classroom lessons for all grade levels. The Safer, Smarter Kid curriculum follows a developmentally appropriate sequence of instruction for elementary students, helping children develop skills to stay safe as their world expands.
Lessons will start in September.
Kindergarten: The importance of safety rules
1st Grade: Safety rules, grown up buddies, and trusted triangle – identifying adults who students can trust
2nd Grade: How safety rules keep us safe and staying safe while focusing on your surroundings
3rd Grade: Being a good citizen
4th Grade: Personal safety and physical safety
5th Grade: Having courage

School Wide Expectations
Be Responsible: Being responsible is coming to school on time, being prepared and ready to learn, and using good character. It is important to do what is expected and always try your best.
Be Safe: Being safe is making choices that keep yourself and others free from harm. We work hard on teaching Self Control. This is keeping hands, feet, hurtful words and objects to ourselves.
Parents and families can reinforce these same ideas at home and in the community. When we are all using the same language, a child can truly understand and practice these skills.
School Lunches
Pasco County Schools Food & Nutrition Services will be implementing a program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). All enrolled students of Pasco County Schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to their household. No further action is required. Students will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application. A la carte items will still be available for purchase including additional meals and/or components of the meals. Families can reach out to Food & Nutrition Services directly through Let’s Talk, call FNS at 813.794.2480, or email FNS_Finance@pasco.k12.fl.us if they have any questions regarding this new program.
Parents are highly encouraged to make advance payment for a la carte items by utilizing www.MySchoolBucks.com. Any check made to Woodland Elementary that is returned for insufficient fund will be assessed a $25.00 fee.
Cell Phone Policy
For all Pasco County Schools
Grades Pre-K through 5: Students in grades Pre-K through 5 who bring WCDs (wireless communication devices) to school must ensure that they remain on silent mode and completely out of view for the entire school day. Classroom teachers may also provide, and student may utilize, a cell phone storage area in their classroom. Students will need to put their cell phones on silent and their smart watches and put them in the bookbags once arriving on campus each day. Please have a conversation with your child prior to the first day of school so they know that they MUST silence their devices and put them away during the ENTIRE school day- no exceptions. Refer to pg. 32 of the Student Code of Conduct for more details and corrective actions/confiscation of device procedures.
