What's Happening??!!
~ Hawley School Newsletter: November 24, 2024 ~
~ From the Desk of Mr. Moretti ~
Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians, Teachers, and Staff,
Time is flying! I can not believe we are heading into Thanksgiving Break followed right behind by the Holiday Season. REMEMBER: There is NO School on Wed-Fri. December is Kindness Month and will be jammed packed with Fun Activities (Kindness Cart, Kindness Assembly, Buddy Class Activities).
Buckle up, stay seated, and keep your hands and feet in the car at all times, as you read on to find out What's Happening at Hawley .....
~ Drop Off / Pick Up Reminders ~
Our student Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures are very specific due to our limited space and parking at Hawley. Parents are very patient and cooperative, which is very much appreciated. At times, some friendly reminders are helpful...
- When dropping off students in the morning, know that the back door is open until 9:00 am. Please drive around to make sure the door is closed before using the main entrance as sometimes we remain open on days we are experiencing more drop offs.
- Although 9:05 am is the start of school, students really should be dropped off and in the building well before that to unpack and to prepare to begin their day.
- Always go through the blacktop playground area even if there are no lines/light traffic. There is little space for turning and for on oncoming vehicles.
- Students are not always in the gym when names are called or take time to gather belongings to exit the gym for pick up. Please be patient while in line. Do NOT pass cars as sometimes students exit cars from the left side by accident.
- Please do all that you can to help your student be able to exit the vehicle on the right.
- If you wish to stop your vehicle to buckle your child in, we ask that you use a parking space. Please do not pull in front of the cones or stop in the middle of the parking lot.
- Remember to not be holding and using your cell phone while driving in the parking lot.
We Thank Everyone for their help in making our system efficient but above all, SAFE!

~ Principal's Challenge ~
What was I thinking???
As we approached our Turkey Trot Fundraising Goal, I thought I would spice it up a little and offer a challenge. I figured that would help us reach our goal, but I did not think we would actually reach the challenge. Well, we reached it, PLUS!
I said that if we raised $12,500 that I would allow the Staff & Students to Duct Tape me to the wall in the lobby. Well, $12,500 is well in the rear view mirror. SO, being a man of my word.....
The Taping of the Principal to the Wall will take place THIS Tuesday Morning at 9:30 am.
~ The Actual Trotting ~
The actual Turkey Trot was a Fantastic Success. Students ran, jogged or walked while their Buddy Classes cheered them on. Some Parents and Families came to watch, while some even ran as well. Thank you to the PTA and parent volunteers that helped set up and mark the laps. Students did not want to stop they were enjoying themselves so much. Nothing better than kids, fresh air and exercise.

Out of the Mouths of Babes....
Mr. M was in the hallway talking to passing students.
In a nearby classroom, a student said, " I think the intercom is broken. "
" What makes you say that? " the teacher asked
" Mr. M is making an announcement and I can barely hear him. " the student replied
" It is not an announcement, he is in the hallway and is just loud. " another student jumped in
