News from Strausser Elementary

Dear Strausser Students and Families,

Thank you for your incredible support this year! We hope you enjoy summer and make wonderful memories. To our fifth grade students and families, you will be missed. We wish you all the best at JMMS! We know you will represent Strausser in the best way possible. To our families relocating, best of luck to you in your new journey. To our students returning in August, we look forward to having you back with us at Strausser for another exciting school year. Thank you again for your partnership this year.

We continue our tradition of the last day (May 24) of school being a half day. Students will be dismissed at 12:20 pm with the intent that buses exit the parking lot at 12:25 pm. Parent pick-up will begin at 12:15 pm. Please note we will not serve breakfast on May 24.

• Friday, May 24: The office will close at 1:00 pm

• Tuesday, May 28 - Friday, May 31: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

• Monday, June 3 - Thursday, June 6: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

• Friday, June 7 - Office closed for the summer

• Monday, August 5 - Office reopens for the school year. Office hours are 7:45 am - 3:45 pm

• August 15 - Open House: 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

• August 20 - First day of school for students in grades 1 - 5

On the last day of school, students will bring home a hard copy of next year's supply list.

K-5 students will turn in their ID badges on the last day of school. Students will then receive them at the beginning of next year.

Students completing grades 3, 4, and 5 who will be enrolled in Jackson Local during the 24-25 school year will bring home their devices, cases, and chargers for the summer. Please help your child keep track of these materials. As a rule of thumb, the computer should ALWAYS stay in its case.

Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication by Thursday, June 6th. Once school is out, the clinic will be open between 8 AM to 2 PM, Monday-Thursday. All medications must be picked up by a parent or guardian. Students are NOT permitted to take medication home except for documented self-carry orders. Any medication not picked up by June 6th will be disposed of. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school nurse at 330-834-4652.

Student fees can be paid by check made out to Jackson Local Schools and sent in with your student, or you may click this link to pay fees online.

If your 5th grade student will advance to Jackson Memorial Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year and needs transportation, please email the Transportation Department at busgarage@jackson.sparcc.org prior to August 1st to arrange busing. Please include your student’s name, address, and if they will need AM and /or PM busing.

Please complete this quick google form to let us know if your children are not returning to Strausser Elementary in 2024-2025. This information helps us plan for next year. This is for current K-4 students (not current grade 5 students who will go to JMMS).

Calling all Polar Bears! Get ready for our annual Robotics Summer Camp from June 3rd to June 7th at the High School Library. Elementary students, your camp runs in the morning; Middle School students, you’re up in the afternoon. It’s a great chance to build robots, learn new skills, and hang out with friends who love tech as much as you do. See you there!
