Where To Wednesdays
Goshen Local Schools, College and Career Readiness
Welcome to Where To Wednesday!
Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,
We are excited to introduce another year of the "Where To Wednesday" newsletter, a weekly guide designed to help our students navigate the important decisions they face as they plan for their futures after high school. College is a significant investment, and securing a job after graduation is not always guaranteed. That's why it's crucial for students to understand why they are going to college, or why they might choose other paths such as internships, apprenticeships, short-term credentialing programs, or the military. Having a clear sense of what to study and the available alternatives can help them make informed decisions that align with their career goals and personal interests.
Throughout the school year, the "Where To Wednesday" newsletter will provide valuable insights and practical advice on key elements of post-high school planning. Here's what you can look forward to each week:
- What Careers Are Out There?: Learn about various industries, emerging career fields, and detailed profiles of different professions to help you discover potential career paths.
- Resources and Websites for Career Exploration: Explore top websites and tools that can assist you in researching careers and finding the right fit for you.
- How to Know if a Career is the Right Fit: Gain tips on self-assessment, job shadowing, internships, and hear from professionals about their career journeys. Discover opportunities and events offered by Goshen Schools and its career-oriented partners, including professional career coaching and curriculum.
- How to Choose a College Major: Understand how to link your interests and strengths to potential college majors and career goals.
- What to Study to Get that First Job: Learn about the academic paths, certifications, and licenses required for specific careers, and get tips on preparing for your first job.
Each edition of the newsletter will feature informational content, engaging and often hands-on opportunities, interactive elements, and expert advice to help you make informed decisions about your future. We encourage students, parents, and staff to read the newsletter each week and stay informed about the opportunities and resources available.
Let's embark on this journey together and make the most of the resources at our disposal to ensure our students are well-prepared for their futures.
Best regards,
Mr. Pat Dubbs

Homearama 2024: Celebrate the Goshen Local Schools Connection and Support Future Builders with the Junior Homearama Shed Raffle
Homearama 2024 is happening in Goshen Township at The Reserves at Stone Pillars Farm from August 24th through September 8th. This event will showcase six fully decorated and landscaped homes.
As part of the event, there will be a special Junior Homearama Project featuring two well-built, yard-ready sheds constructed by Goshen High School students. These sheds, designed to fit seamlessly in any home’s yard, align with the equestrian theme of the home development. This project reflects a partnership between the Home Builders Association and Goshen Schools, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in education and community development.
Materials for the sheds were generously donated by McCabe Lumber, Sherwin Williams, and Pella Glass, showcasing the strong support of the business community in providing students with real-world experience and skills. Visitors can purchase raffle tickets during the event for a chance to win one of these high-quality sheds. The raffle supports the Careers in Construction program, which funds scholarships for students interested in pursuing careers in the residential trades.
Tickets for the event are $22.00 at the gate, or $20 online at https://www.cincyhomearama.com/events/tickets and on the Cincinnati HOMEARAMA® app. Children 12 and under are admitted for free if accompanied by an adult. No tickets will be sold or admittance allowed after 8:00 PM.
Support student career development and potentially take home one of these well-built, yard-ready sheds, made possible through a partnership between Goshen Schools and HBA businesses. Check out the partnership video created by Marketing Specialist, Ellie Beerman with Alluring Glass by clicking here.
