A Message from your Principals
As Great Hollow winds down for 2024, we hope that your holiday season is filled with family, friends, joy and happiness. It is important to take some time to reflect on what is meaningful in our lives and to be thankful for what we have.
From our Great Hollow family, we want to wish you and your family the happiest of holidays and a healthy New Year!

Most Valuable Team Player Awards
On December 5, Great Hollow Middle School honored students who embodied the spirit of what it means to be a GHMS student. These students have shown excellence in the classroom and throughout the school by showing good character, responsible decision making, and by going the extra mile to be kind and friendly. GHMS Winter Concerts
Our winter concert series began on December 4, and finished on December 18, 2024. The band, the chorus and the orchestra gave beautiful performances under the direction of Mrs. Putnam, Mr. MacCarthy, Mrs. Jurlando, Mr. Lippman, Mr. Margolin, and Mr. Roth. Thank you to our music department for their hard work to get our students ready for these performances! Bravo!

Caught Being Kind
Congratulations to our students who were Caught Being Kind for the month of December! Keep up the great work!
Cards and Crafts for Stony Brook Children's Hospital
On December 17, sixth grade students were invited to stay after school to work on crafts and cards for the children who will spending their holidays at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. Students embodied the true spirit of the holiday season as they gave of their time and talents to design beautiful ornaments, cards and paper candy canes that will be distributed to the hospital in the upcoming days. Special thanks to our dedicated teachers who made this possible, especially to Mr. Hart, for coordinating it, and his helpers: Mr. Sillam, Mrs. Dean, Mrs. Jakubowsky, Ms. Nelson, and Mrs. LaRussa.

Congratulations to our Girls Soccer Team for receiving the highest cumulative GPA in the District for a middle school fall team. The girls are not only great athletes, but they lead by example in the classroom. Thank you, Dave Miller, and the Smithtown Booster Club for a wonderful ceremony!
Candy Cane Grams

Holiday Fun!
The annual "Festive Sweater Contest" was December 19. We had many students join in the festivities this year! Students also voted for the best door decorations in the school. Congratulations to the following teachers who finished in the top five of the door decorating contest: Mrs. Ciota, Mrs. Dicpinigaitis, Mr. Thornton, Mr. Hart, and the Counseling Center.

Great Hollow's long time crossing guard, Miss Elizabeth, retired after 28 years of service as a crossing guard, spending 25 of those years at Great Hollow! Great Hollow gave her a warm thank you reception on December 19, 2024. Thank you Miss Elizabeth for keeping our students safe all of these years! Enjoy your retirement!
