Huntley Happenings ~ October 17th
Family Newsletter
Hello Huntley families,
It was great to see so many people in the building for conferences tonight! We hope you were able to hear feedback on how your child is doing in class and pick up some books from the Book Fair. Conferences continue again next week Tuesday, so if you weren't able to make it tonight or still need to sign up, we offer one more night for parent teacher conferences. On Wednesday, we celebrated Unity Day by creating a Unity Tree. All students signed an orange leaf that were hung up together to stand up against bullying. Make sure you check out the neat display at the bottom of the main stairwell.
Enjoy your weekend!

Sandy Slope Updates (repeat)
This is just a reminder for any student interested they can write a short narrative of what they think Sandy Slope is going to be like or what they hope the school will be like. If you have a younger child, they can write a short narrative or they can draw a picture of what they think the school will look like. Should your child participate in this opportunity, I would ask for you to include on the narrative or drawing:
Child's first and last name
Grade they will be for the 2025-2026 school year
These narratives or drawings will be included in a time capsule that will be buried in the floor of the principal's office at Sandy Slope. If your child plans on participating, please have the narratives or drawings turned into your child's teacher by Thursday, October 24. Thank you for considering!

Join Us at Fall Into Wellness on October 23, 2024
We're excited to invite you to an upcoming event for AASD parents/guardians, Fall into Wellness, on Wednesday, October 23 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Einstein Middle School. Our event will feature 2 breakout sessions - Appleton Police Department will present about keeping youth safe online and with social media and Community Action for Healthy Living (CAHL) will be presenting on the risks of youth vaping and tips for families, a panel discussion focusing on mental health, with expert panelists offering valuable insights and tips for supporting your youth and family's well-being. We encourage you to attend these discussions and participate in the Q&A sessions.
Additionally, don't miss out on our resource fair, where you can connect with community vendors offering mental health services, AODA information, and other programming available to families within the community. Although the discussions are geared towards grades 3-12, the resource fair will cater to all ages, with a special focus on middle school families. We've planned an engaging lineup of activities and discussions to promote family wellness. Be sure to join us for the chance to win some fantastic door prizes. Schedule Your 3-5 year Old Child's Screening
Parents/guardians do not need to have concerns to schedule a screening.
The Developmental Screening is designed to:

- Identify young children in need of further assessment
The Screening looks at all areas of child development including:
- How your child talks
- How your child listens
- How your child thinks
- How your child moves
- How your child uses their hands
The district offers many programs and services for children who may need support before kindergarten to achieve school success.
Screenings are held at the Community Early Learning Center, 313 S. State St., Appleton, WI 54911. Screening appointments are held during the school year from September through March.
