Hello PCK Community,
As we close out another remarkable school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the milestones and achievements our school community has reached.
We are proud that PCK was recognized in the U.S. News and World Report rankings as the #1 middle school in Colorado and the #1 charter elementary school in the state. These rankings reflect the dedication of our students, the expertise of our staff, and the strong partnership we have with you—our families.
This year, PCK was once again honored with the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award, as well as received continued recognition as a John Irwin School of Excellence. Additionally, our students performed among the top in the Douglas County School District across a range of testing measures.
At the heart of these successes is the unwavering support of our community. This year, our volunteers contributed thousands of hours to supporting our students and programs—an extraordinary display of commitment that has helped make these accomplishments possible.
As we celebrate these accomplishments, we also recognize this year as the start of an exciting new chapter—one that lays a strong foundation for the next 30 years of PCK’s legacy. We are diligently working to establish the roots of our Strategic Plan, which will serve as a guiding framework for future decision-making. We extend our sincere thanks to all members of our community who contributed to the development and refinement of this plan. Your input has been invaluable in shaping a strategy that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of our community.
Thank you for being such an important part of this journey. Have a wonderful summer break, and we look forward to welcoming our returning students in the fall.
Warm regards,
Dr. Weyman
For this week’s spotlight we wanted to highlight the success of our recent Read-a-Thon for students in grades K–3. This special day was dedicated entirely to reading—students spent the day either reading independently or listening to stories read aloud by teachers and staff.
Activities like our Read-a-Thon are more than just fun—they also play a key role in academic development. Research shows that early reading skills are a strong predictor of long-term academic success. When children learn to read fluently at a young age, they build the foundation for improved comprehension, critical thinking, and performance in all subjects for years to come.
Thank you for your continued support in making reading a meaningful and exciting part of your child’s learning journey. We’re proud of our young readers and the love for books they’re growing every day.
Hello PCK!
I can’t believe we’re almost done! I have had an amazing time this year getting to know the students, staff, and families. I’m excited to return for the 25/26 school year and continue the partnership with PCK and the community.
I’ve had multiple people ask what the SROs do during the summer months so I figured I would share with the whole community! I’ll be working at the DCSO Youth Academy, working with the Explorer program and getting them ready for their regional competition, and taking a bit of vacation to visit family. The SROs also pack quite a bit of training into the summers including the national conference in Dallas.
Just a friendly reminder that Safe2Tell is still an anonymous reporting option over the Summer. Please look out for yourself and others.
Please reach out if you have any questions!
Stay healthy, happy, and safe!
Deputy Sandifer
Our school supply lists for the 2025–26 school year are now available. If you’d like to get a head start on your back-to-school shopping before summer begins, you can view the lists by clicking the button below.
For added convenience, we’ve also partnered with School Tool Box to offer a one-stop option for purchasing all required supplies. With just one click, you can order everything your student will need—and a percentage of each purchase goes directly back to support PCK.

Our Facilities team is preparing to begin a much-needed stage maintenance project this summer. The current stage flooring has become uneven and is beginning to chip away due to years of high traffic.
To complete this project, we are seeking donations of flooring material to resurface approximately 920 square feet of the stage. This does not need to be new material—gently used items such as leftover luxury vinyl plank or other durable flooring are welcome and greatly appreciated.
If you or someone you know is interested in donating materials, please contact us at facility@ckcs.net. Your support will go a long way in helping us create a safe and updated space for our students' performances and events.
As we approach the end of the school year, we wanted to share a reminder about our final dress down days. Tomorrow, Friday, May 23, will be our last regular Friday Dress Down Day of the year.
Starting next week, we will begin our themed schoolwide dress down days. These themed days are listed below for your reference.
Please note: some grade levels, such as kindergarten and 4th grade, have different dress down/dress up days that are not included on the general calendar. For those specific dates, kindly refer to last week’s newsletter.
We will be unable to host our Cornhole Tournament originally scheduled for this evening, Thursday, May 22.
While we’re disappointed to miss this event, we’re excited to share that we’ll be hosting several tournaments throughout the upcoming school year. Our next event will be the Flag Football Tournament in the fall. Additionally, please be on the lookout for communication early next year regarding tryouts for Boys Soccer, Girls Volleyball, and Cross Country.
Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming our students back and hosting more events in the new school year!
We are currently accepting applications for substitute teachers to support our preschool and K–8 classrooms for the 2025–26 academic year. The daily rate for substitute teaching is $160.
We are thrilled to highlight an opening for our Resident Substitute Teacher position. This key role not only involves classroom subbing but also includes coordinating substitute coverage across the school. Orientation for all substitute teachers will take place during the second week of school.
We welcome candidates with prior experience working with children and a strong desire to contribute to a dynamic and supportive school community. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact on our students’ educational experience.
If you or someone you know is interested, we encourage you to apply.
Our annual Field Day for students in grades 1-7 is coming up on Thursday, May 29—at Salisbury Park. To help everything run smoothly, here are the key details for the day:
-
Student drop-off will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Salisbury Park.
-
Student pick-up will begin at 1:00 p.m., as Field Day activities begin to wrap up.
Families should drop students in the Salisbury Sports Complex parking lot located in the northwest corner of Salisbury Park. Please do not use the Equestrian parking lot, as that area is not designated for school event access.
Additionally, please note that part of Motsenbocker Road is currently closed. Salisbury Park will only be accessible via Motsenbocker from Hess Road, so plan your route accordingly to avoid delays.
We are deeply grateful to all of our amazing volunteers who are helping bring Field Day to life. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm make this day possible, and we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for being such an incredible part of our community—your willingness to step up and get involved truly makes a difference.
Way to Go’s Schoolpool program is returning to PCK for the 2025–26 school year. Schoolpool helps connect nearby families to share school transportation through carpooling. It’s also a great way to meet neighbors or have backup ride options.
If you don’t want to participate or share your contact info, please opt out using the form below. No action is needed if you wish to join.
Each week, any items that are clearly labeled with a student’s name are returned to their classroom. However, there are many unlabeled items still remaining at the Lost and Found station.
We kindly ask that you remind your child to check the Lost and Found for any belongings they may have misplaced during the school year. Please note that any unclaimed items will be donated once we leave for Summer Break.
With summer right around the corner, we’d like to remind families that any student medications brought to the health room during the school year must be picked up prior to Field Day, on May 29. Medications cannot be stored over the summer. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
This week, we are proud to shine our Volunteer Spotlight on a truly remarkable group—every single one of you who contributed your time and energy to support PCK throughout the year.
Thanks to your generosity, our volunteers donated just under 3,200 hours of their time across more than 120 volunteer events. From chaperoning field trips and organizing Thursday folders, to serving as Safety Dads and helping in countless other ways, your involvement has made a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
We are incredibly grateful for the strength of our community and the way you consistently rally around our school. This culture of volunteerism is essential to everything we do, and without it, we simply couldn’t support our teachers, staff, and students as effectively as we do.
Thank you for helping make PCK a better place for everyone this year. We appreciate you!
