Orana Catholic Primary School
Week 9, Term 1, 2020
TO GIVE IS TO RECEIVE
Generosity is giving and sharing. It is giving freely.
It is seeing a chance to give what you have and then giving just for the joy of giving.
Prayer - For now
Loving God,
Your desire is for our wholeness and well being.
We hold in tenderness and prayer the collective suffering of our world at this time.
We grieve precious lives lost and vulnerable lives threatened.
We ache for ourselves and our neighbours, standing before an uncertain future.
We pray: may love, not fear, go viral.
Inspire our leaders to discern and choose wisely, aligned with the common good.
Help us to practice social distancing and reveal to us new and creative ways to come together in spirit and in solidarity.
Amen
From the Principal - Ms Walsh
Dear Parents/ Carers and Children,
What a week! I trust that all members of our Orana Community are doing well despite the current challenging circumstances! I have always said that schools are very different places without students and it would be fair to say that our student's and community's presence in our school has been greatly missed by staff this week.
This has been our first week totally immersed in remote learning and I have to say that the level of engagement has been AWESOME!! I know that many of our parents/carers have been juggling their work role with the additional roll of educator (or supervisor of studies) however, it seems that we really are 'all in this together' with many of the academic tasks undertaken and completed. This is, of course, a time of learning for everyone, so please be patient as you and your children attempt the activities on offer. Remember that you can only do what you can do and that these are truly unique and evolving circumstances.
Thank you all for your positive feedback in our recent survey, it certainly provides us with important information as to what to tweak moving forward. It will also allow us to reflect on the experience from your perspective and to make some changes that will enhance engagement and ease concerns moving forward.
At this stage, I cannot tell you whether or not Term 2 will begin online or back at school but I will keep you up to date as information comes to hand. I have added a COVID-19 link to our Orana web page. This link is populated with helpful information and will keep you informed as to how term 2 will look for us all as this information unfolds. Please check it out.
EASTER
'Easter at home is an opportunity for faith'. This notion was proposed by Cardinal Stella, a Vatican Official on March 17, as Catholics around the world prepare to celebrate the Easter Triduum at home.
This year, we may not be able to attend mass and the Easter liturgies in the usual way however, there are lots of things we can do to celebrate this most Sacred time of the Liturgical Year. We are blessed to have access to technology which can keep us in touch with all that is going on in this special week. Holy Week and Easter Triduum liturgies will be live-streamed from the Cathedral. They can be viewed on the Archdiocesan You Tube Channel. We also need to remember that the important messages of Easter, prayer, fasting and almsgiving can all be undertaken from home in a sincere way. Please use this link to see ideas as to how to create a Sacred Space in your homes this week.
Important news for our youngest members of the Orana school Community.
