Happy Wednesday!
We are all very busy at Saint John School getting everything ready for our first day next Tuesday. We hope that you are as excited as we are for a shiny new school year!
A big thank you goes out to Mr. Baummer, Mrs. Wendt, Mrs. St. Amant, Mrs. Smoyer, and Mr. Kucas for all the hard work they did this summer. We are so grateful to them and all that they do!
Note: Some teachers have been contacting parents and guardians via email. So that you don't' miss anything, be sure to check your spam and junk mailboxes.
We again ask you to please take note of our new Main Office email account. Both Mrs. Wendt and Mrs. Weiser will be overseeing the office throughout the week (Mrs. Wendt Monday - Wednesday and Mrs. Weiser Thursday - Friday) and we want to be sure all messages about absences, etc. are received. We are asking that you use this new email (MainOffice@saintjohnsch.net) for all excuses, notifications of dismissal changes, and other time sensitive information.
If you haven't already completed the Emergency Card and After School Care Enrollment, please do so by Monday, August 19th, using this link:
These are now past due.
We are looking forward to seeing our Kindergarteners tomorrow from 6:15 - 7 p.m. and everyone at Mass on Sunday, August 25, at 4 p.m. at Governor's Park!
Have a wonderful day!
Sincerely in Christ,
Mrs. Tice

- Milk only $0.75
Reminders about lunch payments:
- Please send all payments in a sealed & labeled envelope or plastic bag.
- Please indicate the family name and "Lunch account" on the envelope
- Please keep lunch account payments separate from other payments.
- Please try to make lunch account payments on a weekly or monthly basis, if possible.
- Family payments will be split evenly among their K-5 children unless noted differently on the envelope.
Please remember that students are charged for lunch if they sign up in the morning, unless they leave school before lunch due to sickness. Please help your children remember their lunch choice so that we can call in an accurate lunch count to BASD each morning.

August 21 is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Knock
The story begins on 21 August 1879, when 15 people from the village of Knock witnessed an apparition of Mary on the gable wall of the parish church.
They said she appeared with St Joseph, St John the Evangelist, a lamb, and a cross. They watched in pouring rain for two hours, reciting the Rosary..
The story goes that the watchers were soaked in rain but the gable wall and the apparition remained dry.
The witnesses, aged between five and 74, gave their testimony to a Commission of Enquiry later in 1879. It found their words "trustworthy and satisfactory".
In 1936, a second Commission of Enquiry heard from the two surviving witnesses, Mary O'Connell and Patrick Byrne.
Mary O'Connell ended her sworn statement with the words: "I am clear about everything I have said and I make this statement knowing I am going before my God." She died later that year.
It is the only Marian apparition which had no verbal message, however, its silent message offers the comfort and care of Christ whom we encounter in the Eucharist. Today, Knock ranks among the world's major Marian Shrines, having enjoyed the full approval of the Church, for many years.
