Monroe Memo
May, 2024
Please Welcome Mrs. Parduhn! Monroe's New Principal Beginning July 1st, 2024.
Monroe Elementary Families,
I am so excited to be joining the Monroe Elementary School community! I grew up in Two Rivers, so I know the Manitowoc area well, and I am thrilled to be moving back home. I have been in education for 30 years, and I am dedicated to providing a positive and safe environment where students can connect with each other, engage with their learning, and achieve at high levels.
I look forward to partnering with the hardworking staff who care for, educate, and support your children. My door will always be open for conversations and questions. I believe that strong communication between home and school is key to a successful educational experience, and I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. Once I begin my role as the principal I will provide my contact information.
I am excited to meet each of you and work together to make Monroe Elementary a place where every child can grow and thrive.
And for staff, HAPPY STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK – May 6-10!
Mrs. Parduhn

It is hard to believe we have arrived at our last full month of school! Here at Monroe, we are so proud of all the growth our students have made this year as readers! It’s always a remarkable feeling to see progress in something you have been working on, especially when it comes to reading.
As spring arrives, we tend to get busier. The weather is nicer, dance recitals are scheduled, baseball and soccer seasons have started up… remember to squeeze in that time to read each day! Whether you are rereading a book or diving into a new text, every moment you spend reading contributes to your growth as a reader! Let’s keep growing, Monroe Mustangs! We are so proud of you!
Thank you for ALL you continue to do to support your child’s success.
As always, please reach out as any questions or concerns may arise!

Here are some amazing things that have been spotted in our building:
Our kindergarten students learned about the parts of a plant.
3rd grade students work together in a team-building activity.
A 3rd grade reading buddy coaches his kindergarten partner as they read a book together.
Mrs. Hader’s reading class works on their shared story together.
Standard Response Protocol of the Month- "Evacuate"
An "Evacuate" is used to move people from one location to a different location in or out of the building.
Each month throughout the school year, all Manitowoc Public Schools will train on one of the five responses.
SECURE - LOCKDOWN - EVACUATE - SHELTER - HOLD
The training is designed to create knowledge, answer questions, and build familiarity for all students, staff and visitors. Please take time each month to ask your child what safety response protocol they practiced and see if they have questions or ideas about how these safety steps work and how they could be used in other places beyond school. The SRP can be utilized in many places for more information please see iloveuguys.org.
