Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Richey Elementary! As we begin the 2024-2025 academic year, we are filled with enthusiasm and anticipation for all the wonderful opportunities that lie ahead. Our dedicated team of educators has been working hard to prepare engaging and enriching experiences that will inspire and challenge our students to reach their full potential. Whether your child is returning to us or joining our school community for the first time, we are committed to providing a supportive, safe, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
We recognize the vital role that you, as parents and guardians, play in your child's education, and we are eager to continue building a strong partnership with you throughout the year. Communication and collaboration between home and school are essential for student success, and we encourage you to stay involved and connected. We have an exciting year ahead, filled with learning, growth, and memorable moments. Thank you for your ongoing support and trust in us as we embark on this journey together. Richey First Take
Starting this Sunday The Richey First Take will come out on Sunday's at 6pm. Please keep an eye out for that email on Sunday evenings.
Need to knows...
Meet the Teacher
- Meet the Teacher is Tonight from 3:30 pm-5:00 pm. Class lists will be available as you arrive through the front doors. You will receive a car tag at the Meet the Teacher event, regardless of whether your student will ride a bus to school or be picked up in the car rider line.
Walking children to their classroom
- Parents will not be able to walk their children to their classroom.
- We will have staff members assisting the students to their classrooms.
School Schedule
- 8:45 am Car rider Drop-Off begins
- 8:45 am Staff will bring in the students who would like to get breakfast.
- 8:50 am Staff will bring the rest of the students into the building.
- 8:55 am Bus Riders will come into the building.
- Students will have a grab-and-go breakfast.
- 9:05 am Instructional Day begins
- 9:05 am Students are late after 9:05 am. Parents must sign their child in after 9:05 am.
- 3:50 pm Car Rider dismissal begins
- 3:50-4:00 pm Buses depart
First Day of School
- All students in Grades 1-5 will start on August 26th.
- Kindergarten: Last names starting with A-L will start on August 26th.
- Kindergarten: Last names starting with M-Z will begin on August 28th.
Car Tags
You will receive a car tag at the Meet the Teacher event, regardless of whether your student will ride a bus to school or be picked up in the car rider line. It is important to keep your car tag on hand as you may need to pick up your child at some point during the year. Car tags help to ensure that we dismiss students from school in a safe and efficient manner.
Morning Carline
- It is single file carline.
- Please pull all the way up until the end of the sidewalk.
- Do not pass other cars.
Afternoon Carline
- Make sure to have your car tag hanging on your rearview mirror.
- It is a double lane.
- The second lane furthest from the building no one can park in until 3:15pm.
- Please do not wave for your kids to cross the lanes. A staff member will either cross the student to the car or tell the student when it is safe to cross.
Afternoon Walkers
- You will need your tag.
- A staff member will call your child's number and they will come out to you.
- They will exit out of the door next to the cafeteria on the side of the building.
- Once you have child/children please exit the walker dismissal area. This is a very busy area and we need to keep it clear.
Afternoon Independent Walkers
- You will need to fill out an independent walker form. (Even if you filled one out last year)
- You back pick up these forms in the office.
- You can also pick up the form on Meet the Teacher Night.
- Independent Walkers will be dismissed after the traditional walkers are dismissed.
Nutrition
- All students at Richey Elementary are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Please see the attachment at the bottom.
Chromebooks
- Students in kindergarten- 3rd Grade will keep Chromebooks at school, while students in 4th and 5th will take theirs to and from home each day. 4th and 5th grade will need to pay a 20 dollar insurance fee.

We are excited to invite you to our Meet the Teacher Night this Thursday, August 22nd. This event is a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with the dedicated educators who will be guiding your child’s learning journey this year. It’s a chance to see the classroom environment, get a feel for the daily routine, and build relationships that will support your child’s success. We look forward to meeting you and working together to make this a fantastic year!

Voluntary Accident Insurance
The Red Clay Consolidated School District offers a voluntary low cost accident insurance for your student. Families can choose either during the school day or 24-hour coverage. The brochure is attached. Applications and fees should be sent directly to the Philadelphia Insurance Companies. There is no obligation to purchase this insurance.
Important Dates
August 22: Meet the Teacher from 3:30-5:00
August 26: First Day of School for students Grades 1-5 and Kindergarten students with last names A-L(Kindergarten students M-Z Do not attend).
August 28: First day of School for Kindergarten students with last names M-Z (Kindergarten students A-L Do not attend).
August 30: No School (Office will be open)
September 2: Labor Day, School and Office Closed
September 3: School re-opens for all students (Kindergarten-5th Grade)
