Stevenson High School
August 16, 2024 ~ BACK TO SCHOOL
Principal's Note:
Dear Spartans
As we approach the final week of the student’s summer break, we look forward to welcoming our staff back next Wednesday. The information shared below will support our students in being successful this school year. These Standards & Expectations are put into place to allow us to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all students. For more detailed information, please refer to our Student Handbook, which can be found on our webpage under the Student tab.
Attendance
There is research that supports academic success is directly correlated to positive attendance, attending all classes every day. Therefore, we highly encourage our students to be present as much as possible. Obviously, if students are not healthy enough to persevere, it is recommended to stay home. Last semester, over 60% of courses failed, those students had twenty or more (20+) absences in that course.
Cell Phones / Electronic Devices / Earbuds / Headphones
Simply put, cell phones and other electronic devices are not permitted for use in an academic setting (during class). Such devices may be used during lunch time. Failure to comply with this expectation will result in a discipline consequence.
Student Dress
This is an educational environment. Students are expected to wear a shirt that fully covers the torso and is fitted under the arms. Clothing must cover private parts. Undergarments should not be seen during the school day and may not be worn in lieu of an appropriate shirt or bottom. Shoes that are appropriate for school activities. Special areas may require additional clothing standards such as appropriate clothing around machinery, eye protection dictated by O.S.H.A. and the Board of Health standards involving food preparation. Staff may determine the appropriateness of a student's footwear based on specific class activities. Students may wear hats but hoods up over the head are not permitted as this presents a safety and security concern when trying to recognize and identify students.
Food Service
As they are wrapping up the renovation of our kitchen and cafeteria area, our food service operations will not be fully functioning when school starts. Breakfast and lunch will still be provided. However, the menu is limited with no options. You can scroll down further to see the menu options.
Student Drop Off / Pick Up
Doors open in the morning at 6:45 am. Please do not plan to arrive or enter the building prior to this time. Students may access the building from one of three (3) locations: the Main Entrance (Door #1), Athletics (Door #24), or the Bus Loop (Door #51). All other doors are secured. Once school starts, all students must enter through the Main Entrance. The Bus Loop should not be used for drop off or pick up. This area is reserved for LPS transportation services.
Student Schedules
Student schedules will be released on Aug. 21st @ 4:00pm.
It is an exciting time of the year as our Spartans are starting to return to campus. Enjoy your final week off!
We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, August 26th.
All the best!
Pete Mazzoni

STUDENT PARKING 2024-2025
All student parking applications are taken online. The cost of a parking permit is $52, payable only through School Pay. Seniors must fill out the information form and pay online by Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
- Senior Information Form 2024-25 (you MUST your school email address to complete the form)

If a student is not passing four (4) classes at that point, parking on campus may be suspended. The administration reserves the right to make final determinations, and there will be no refund for the cost of the permit.
Students may not transfer ownership of a parking pass to another student.
Students may only park in student-designated parking.
STEVENSON PARKING INFORMATION FOR JUNIORS – LOTTERY
All student parking applications are offered online. The goal of the Stevenson administration is to provide a safe and convenient parking situation for as many students as possible.
No student, regardless of involvement in school activities, is guaranteed a parking permit. Parking is a privilege; an equitable system is in place to award the limited number of parking permits.
- Fill out the Junior Application Form by midnight on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. (Please use your school email address when filling out the application.)
- Juniors selected will receive an email confirmation on Monday, September 9, 2024, with the directions regarding payment.
- Parking Permits will be distributed on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 through Friday, September 13, 2024.
Bus Transportation Info for 2024-2025
If your child will require (and is eligible for) bus transportation for the 2024-25 school year, you will need to make the request by logging into in ParentConnect. This process is most easily completed on a computer (rather than a hand-held device). See instructions below.
- Log into ParentConnect
- Click on the red Fall Enrollment Confirmation message near the upper right corner of your screen
- Click on the Update Information button (next to the "Updates Incomplete" message in red)
- Click on Transportation
- Select Yes from the mini-dropdown menu in the center of the screen
- Click on Updates Complete
- Click on Return to main menu at the top left
If your child has transportation via an IEP, you do not need to register, as those arrangements will be made separately for your child. If you are unsure if your child is eligible for transportation, please email lpsbus@livoniapublicshools.org.
IMPORTANT! Update Your Student's Emergency Information
In recent years, LPS initiated an online process that replaces the traditional practice of sending paper packets and “pink emergency cards” home for a parent's signature. The electronic completion of our Fall Enrollment Confirmation is an annual start-of-the-year requirement for each child currently enrolled in an LPS school. This must be completed for new and returning students.
If you have not already done so, please access the electronic Fall Enrollment Confirmation through Parent Connect and update your student's information by CLICKING HERE. (Parents must confirm all emergency contact information, even if all contacts remain unchanged.)
PLEASE USE A COMPUTER (NOT A CELL PHONE) TO COMPLETE THE FALL ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATION.
The Fall Enrollment Confirmation tab (in red, located in the upper right corner of screen) on Parent Connect has been activated and will allow parents/guardians to directly edit items such as emergency contact information and student health information. Other requirements include parental confirmations of items such as internet usage rules, medical authorization, and a student handbook review.
If you have trouble accessing your Parent Connect account, please send an email with your name, your student’s name and the issue that you are having to parentconnect@livoniapublicschools.org.
Medication at School
A student cannot be in possession of, or take prescription drugs or non-prescription medication, such as Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl, Tums etc. at school or during school.
If it is necessary for a student to take medication during the school day (prescription or non-prescription), a Medication Authorization form must be completed and signed by both the doctor and the parent. All medication will be kept in the Main Office for the student’s use and dispensed by office staff.
We encourage you to bring your student's Medication Authorizations (along with their medication) and Health Care Plans before school starts. Our office is open from 7:30-3:00pm daily.
CLICK HERE to download a blank Medication Authorization.
The application link for the federal assistance program has been updated to the following: Horizon Free & Reduced Apps (horizonsolana.com)
Families who may qualify for the federal assistance program still need to fill out the application, even though all school meals are free this year. Filling out the application may provide several other financial assistance benefits for your family, including reduced fees for Pay to Participate, enrollment in the Summer EBT program and other beneficial discounts. This will also assist the district in receiving reimbursements for meals served.
If your family normally qualifies for "free or reduced" school meals, we encourage you to fill out the application for this school year.

2024-25 FAFSA
Haven't Completed the FAFSA Yet?? No Problem!
This school year saw delays & complications with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Thankfully that is all behind us and financial aid reports have been sending to college & trade school financial aid offices since April. If you have a graduating senior, assist their completion of the FAFSA with the resources below. There has never been a better time for students to use state & federal aid to pay for postsecondary costs. Remember, by filling out the FAFSA you are not accepting loans; your student may be eligible for free money in the form of Grants, Scholarships, Michigan Tuition Assistance Program & the Michigan Achievement Scholarship. The only way to utilize this free financial aid is to do the first step - complete the FAFSA.
