Weekly Community Updates - January 24
Dear Students and Families,
This week, 14 students, along with Mr. Cruickshank, came together to create beautiful murals and posters for Tuesday’s “I AM HUMAN, THEY CAN’T CLIP MY WINGS” flex-time event. If you’re on campus soon, be sure to stop by the courtyard and take a picture with the vibrant painted wings—they’re a great reminder of the creativity of our students.
Looking ahead to next week, we’re thrilled to welcome 30 professionals on Friday, January 31st for Oceana's Annual Career Day. Alumni, parents, and community members will share their career journeys with students. It’s an incredible opportunity for students to explore different career paths and ask questions about the future.
As January winds down, report cards for Fall 2024 were mailed out yesterday by the district office. Families should be receiving them soon, but you can always log into ParentVUE and click on “Report Card” to view grades online.
Finally, a quick reminder that Oceana will be closed on Wednesday, January 29th in celebration of Lunar New Year. We hope everyone takes this opportunity to rest.
Have a great weekend!
Take care,
Maritza Torres
Parking Lot Safety
It has come to our attention that some cars are driving over the speed limit in the parking lot. For the safety of our students, families and staff, please be sure to slow down when dropping off and picking up students. Thank you for your continued support.

Biliteracy Seal on Student's Diploma
Did you know that students can earn a Biliteracy Seal on their diploma?
Students who exhibit proficiency in English and a second language can qualify for a State Seal of Biliteracy on their Diploma. For Seniors who have met the English proficiency requirement, they can either complete their second language proficiency by finishing (1) 4 years of a second language in high school courses or (2) passing an AP exam in the second language, or (3) passing a language proficiency test paid by the district.
If your Senior student wants to complete the second language requirement through the district-paid test, please fill out this form (we need to order the tests by January 31).
