BEACON NEWS
BEACON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: DECEMBER 2024
WINTER CONCERT
The Beacon winter concert has been postponed to January 22. More details to come in our January 2025 newsletter.
FOOD BOWL
Montesano schools will once again be participating in Food Bowl to collect food and monetary donations to benefit the Montesano Food Bank. Food Bowl is a fun way to help those in need this holiday season. Beacon students may bring nonperishable food donations to the office December 6-13.
More information on all the Food Bowl events can be found on the Montesano High School Webpage. We hope you will participate in all the fun and beneficial community events.
PAJAMA DAY
Students are invited to wear pajamas to school on Friday, December 20.
- Pajamas must be appropriate and allow for students to participate in all school activities.
- No slippers, stuffed animals, pillows, or blankets.
PREPARE FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER
Please make sure you are informed of possible delays or school closures due to inclement weather or road conditions.
The Montesano School District will initiate an automated phone call to the primary phone number listed on each student’s record to announce emergency schedule changes or school closures. Please log into your Skyward Family Access account to verify the primary phone number on your child’s record is correct.
Parents can also sign up for FlashAlert for FREE by visiting www.flashalert.net. FlashAlert provides emergency notification via text, email, and/or Twitter. Local radio and television stations will broadcast the public information from FlashAlert between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Additional emergency information can be found on our district website:
http://www.monteschools.org/district-emergency-closure.
In the event of a late start, preschool classes will be cancelled. There is no breakfast service on late start days. In the event of a school closure due to weather, the school day will be made up on the designated weather day on the school calendar.
NO EARLY BIRDS PLEASE
Reminder: Morning drop-off time for students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade begins at 8:05 a.m.. School begins at 8:20 a.m., and the tardy bell rings at 8:25 a.m.. Please do not drop your student off before 8:05 a.m., as we do not have the necessary staff to supervise students until that time. Transition to Kindergarten students should be dropped off at 8:20 a.m., unless they are going to have breakfast at school, in which case they may be walked up and dropped off to a TK para next to the office beginning at 8:05 a.m..
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students should be dropped off using the curbside car line, not the bus zone. If you are dropping off a Transition to Kindergarten student, please park in Lot C and walk them to the front gate. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter!
PTO FAMILY FUN NIGHT
There will be a PTO Family Fun Night on December 13 at Simpson Elementary School. Check out the Montesano PTO Facebook page for details!
If you have questions or input regarding the Learning Assistance Program (LAP) at Beacon or the Schoolwide Title program at Simpson, there will be an informal opportunity to ask questions or take a survey during Family Fun Night activities.
