From the Principal's Desk
Hello Little Viking Families,
Happy Valentine's Day! We have had an exciting two weeks here at school. Thank you to all our students and families for their support with our first (and hopefully last) eLearning day this past week. We know and understand that sickness has been running rampant this year. We want our students to stay home if they are sick, but there are many students with excessive absences and you may not know it is okay to send them to school with a cough etc. Please see the icon below to know when you CAN send students to school if you are questioning it. Review the nurse notes a bit lower in the newsletter to see when your child should be excluded. Thank you for your support and we hope we can all stay healthy!
A few reminders about the fun happening at school:
1) No School Monday for President's Day - Enjoy the 3 day weekend!
2) Next week, our P2 trait is cheering other's successes. We will be highlighting black Americans who have made a difference. Ask your student who we highlighted each day in celebration of Black History Month!
3) On Tuesday, February 25th, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students have a field trip and will be attending the play, "Ada Twist Scientist" at college of DuPage.
4) 2025-2026 Kindergarten REGISTRATION is OPEN! See the information below. Don't forget to register. We hope you and your Kindergartener can join us for Kindergarten "Signing Day" on March 13th.
And as a reminder, Mrs. Scanlan is back on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Mr. Hanus continues to be our building Principal onsite on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Reach out to either of us with your questions or concerns.
Have a great weekend,
-Mrs. Scanlan and Mr. Hanus

Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.
Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive to school on time!

Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
