A Message From the Principal
Good afternoon,
We are excited to celebrate Neurodiversity Celebration Week next week! It is a special time to honor and celebrate the unique strengths of the neurodiverse community. This includes individuals with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, Tourette’s syndrome, and other neurological differences. The week is all about raising awareness and encouraging understanding. It’s an opportunity for Fremont Middle School to participate in activities that create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
Please note that due to technical issues, we will be printing Honor Roll certificates next week. They will be handed out in Flex by March 21st.
Morning Announcements - March 17-21
Warm Regards,
Emily Loerakker
Fremont MS Principal
Parent U. Recap - Artificial Intelligence at School and Home
District administrators, teachers, and students hosted a virtual Parent University presentation Tuesday night on the topic of artificial intelligence. We shared how the District is currently integrating AI, and how parents can use AI to support their child’s learning experience. If you missed the presentation, it can be viewed below. Please share your feedback via this form to provide your thoughts on the presentation and to help us plan for future events. For more information on our Parent University programming, please visit our webpage.
Take the 5Essentials Parent Survey!
Fremont School District 79 greatly values your feedback as it relates to your student’s educational experience. Once again, the State of Illinois has partnered with 5Essentials to create a forum by which you can provide your input. To date, we have the following parent participation rates:
Middle School: 19%
We need at least a 20% participation rate for each of the schools to receive a report. Please help us reach this threshold! If you have not already done so, we would greatly appreciate it if you would take the brief survey by visiting: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
Your responses are vital for continuous improvement and long-range planning for your child's school. Parents are welcome to answer the survey for each of their children’s schools. The deadline to complete the survey is March 28, 2025.

Summer School at FSD79
The time is here to sign up for two out of the five summer school programs that Fremont School District is offering this summer!
1- Summer Adventures in Learning (sign up here) consists of one-week interest-based enrichment courses led by Fremont staff! There are two time-sessions each day, which allows you to sign up for two classes per week. Classes may fill up, or need to be canceled, so you will be able to indicate a first and second choice for each of the six class periods between June 9th and June 27th. This is also the form to sign up for bus transportation. There are no mid-session bus routes, so anyone signing up for only one class per week will need to provide transportation.
2- Summer Boost (sign up here) is an asynchronous continuation of student learning online. All students will have access to online learning tools used throughout the school year, but signing up for Summer Boost connects your child with a teacher who will help to monitor their online progress, offer encouragement, and provide optional office hours.
3- Summer Scholars, 4- Extended School Year, and 5- Multilingual, are all programs that are invitation-only. You should be hearing from teachers and case managers soon if your child is invited to attend this summer. These three programs offer tailored assistance with Math and Reading, in-person from June 6th-June 27th.
Please reach out to Alana Davidov, adavidov@fsd79.org, Fremont Intermediate School Assistant Principal, for help or questions!
Early Pick-Up Procedures
If your student needs to be picked up early, please notify our main office at 847-566-9384 or send an email to the receptionist, Karolina O'Malley, at komalley@fsd79.org. A parent/guardian or designated person must present identification to pick a student up early. Please note that the latest pickup time is 2:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 1:30 PM on Wednesday. Parents cannot park in handicapped parking spots near the gym as it interferes with bus pick up.
