Conrad Named Waunakee Athletic Director
Waunakee, WI - Waunakee Community School District has announced the hiring of a new Athletic Director. Nick Conrad has been named the new Athletic Director for the Waunakee Community School District, assuming the role on July 1, 2023.
Conrad is currently an Assistant Athletic Director for the Cudahy School District. He’s been with the Cudahy School District since 2012, holding various roles including high school social studies teacher, head basketball coach, and also assistant football coach. In his current role as Assistant Athletic Director for Cudahy School District, he performed the majority of the day-to-day operations of athletics and covered all events in the district.
He graduated from University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, and acquired a teaching license at Concordia University in Mequon. In 2019, he acquired his administration license from Cardinal Stritch. He is currently pursuing his certification as a Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).
Conrad’s organizational skills, commitment to students, staff, and families, and enthusiasm for the role impactful athletic opportunities can have for our students is going to be an asset to our school and Waunakee community.
He will begin his duties for the school district on July 1. Brian Grabarski, Director of Human Resources, noted that the interview committees and references highlighted his ability to communicate clearly, share examples of getting important projects completed and involving all shareholders in the process.
Conrad added “I am looking forward to working with the coaches, families, and students at Waunakee as well as getting accustomed to all of the teams/activities. It's clear that Waunakee values the role that athletics and activities play in the educational development of students and has shown that through the investments in facilities. That is something that is very exciting to be a part of.”
Let's Build A School Kit!
Hello!
The Waunakee Future Educators Club is partnering with Orphan Grain Train to collect school supplies.
In some countries, school children share a single piece of paper and a single pencil that is passed from one to another. School kits and supplies are a continuously requested from OGT and are needed year-round.
We are challenging each classroom to "build a kit". Each classroom will donate the needed items (see below) and the Future Educators Club will assemble the kits and prepare them for shipping.
If you wish to contribute to your classroom's kit, please send your donated items in a Ziploc baggie and write your classroom's teacher name on the bag. Collected items can be put in the collection box in the main office.
All donated supplies will be picked up on April 28, 2023. If you have any questions, please reach out to one of our advisors: sarahduhr@waunakee.k12.wi.us or maggieheck@waunakee.k12.wi.us.
We thank you in advance for your support of this service project and we look forward to sending School Kits to kids across the world.
Thank you,
Future Educators Club

New Attendance Procedure
March 9, 2023
Dear Families:
We are excited to present to you a new method of reporting student absences in just a few easy steps. Effective immediately, parents and guardians can now use the Absence Request tool in the Campus Portal of Infinite Campus to submit an absence request for one or all student(s) to inform the school office in advance when their student is not going to be in school.
This is available for all Waunakee Community School District schools and all grade levels, 4K-12th grade. This feature can also be done on a desktop computer and a mobile device.
Please click here to view instructions on how to submit a new absence request in the Parent Portal, view absence requests, and how to delete a request.
For questions or help creating a Campus Parent account, please reach out to Julie Gengler, District Registrar, via email. You can also visit our school websites under the Family Tab/Attendance for more information.
Thank you for your participation and cooperation as we roll out this new tool for our families!
Sincerely,

Immunization Update for 2023-2024 School Year
Dear Families:
There are new/revised Wisconsin School Immunization Requirements for the 2023-2024 school year. All students will need the following immunizations or an appropriate waiver according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The asterisk notes a change from previous school years.
4 doses of polio
4 doses of DtaP/DT/Td
3 doses of hepatitis B
2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) or history of disease documented* by a qualified healthcare professional
2 doses of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
All the previously required vaccines, plus:
1 dose of Tdap*
1 MenACWY-containing vaccine*
All the previously required vaccines, plus a booster dose of a MenACYW-containing vaccine.* Those students who have not received their first dose by age 16 should only receive one dose.
For more information, please talk with your child’s doctor or visit the DHS website.
What should I do?
Make sure your child is up to date on their vaccinations by checking your child’s immunization record. To get your child up to date on their vaccinations:
Make a vaccine appointment with your doctor or Public Health Madison Dane County if you do not have a medical provider.
Ask the health care provider to complete the Student Immunization Record form. Return the form to the school office.
You can also visit the Wisconsin Immunization Registry to see if your child is missing or coming due for any immunizations.
Immunizations are covered by most health insurance plans. If you do not have health insurance, or your health insurance does not cover immunizations, the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program may be able to help with the cost of immunizations.
If you have additional questions, please contact Ashley Weier (4K-4 School Nurse) via email ashleyweier@waunakee.k12.wi.us or Jenny Sydow (5-12 School Nurse) via email jennifersydow@waunakee.k12.wi.us.
