Texas Roadhouse - Dine to Donate - PBIS Fundraiser
Don't have dinner plans? Please consider dining at Texas Roadhouse on Monday to support our PBIS Initiative where students earn Panther Pete tickets for displaying The Panther Way: Do Right, Say Right, Act Right. Students then have the option to spend their tickets or to enter into a drawing for larger prizes each month. The funds raised from this fundraiser will help us to continue expanding our PBIS initiatives at JCMS!
Please show the attached flyer and a portion of proceeds goes to the JCMS PBIS fund.

PSAT 8 - Tuesday, October 22, 2024
JCMS will administer the PSAT on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. All 8th graders will take the PSAT 8, a valuable test that provides data to help support their academic growth as they begin the transition between middle school and high school, and to prepare them for maximizing their SAT score during their junior year of high school.
Students should make sure to get a good night's rest, enjoy a protein packed breakfast, and have their device charged for testing!

7th Grade Guidance News:
We have been in 7th Grade Social Studies classes this past week discussing an exciting program coming up November 1st called Reality Store Day. This day is dedicated to helping students know where they stand academically by receiving their current GPA. Based on that GPA, they will have a certain "degree level" where they will choose careers for Reality Store. The emphasis is to encourage students to do well in school so they have more options for successful careers after high school. They then drew out of an envelope whether they were married, single and with children or not. From there, students were given their yearly salary, monthly salary and their net pay. Their net pay is what they are allotted to "spend" in Reality Store where there are mandatory booths for Insurance, Childcare, Housing, Transportation, Groceries/Clothing, Utilities and Student Loans. There are additional booths in the store to help them budget, add part-time jobs, buy animals, travel, give to charity, and a fun piece--spin the wheel of Life's Unexpected. Here, there are traffic tickets, promotions at work, flat tires, and more. The main goal of Reality Store is for students to get a glimpse of their financial future if they continue down the education path they are on, and to remain in the green after their time in Reality Store. Ask your student about what job they chose and how they are doing in school right now!
8th Grade Guidance News:
The 8th graders are going on a field trip to local Manufacturing Plants to learn about careers available here in Jennings County. There is a dress code students must follow: Long sleeves, pants and closed-toed shoes.
Please be sure to assist your 8th graders in making sure they dress for safety at these manufacturing plants. Students will be asked to change if they are not dressed appropriately for this field trip. Crocs are discouraged.
Please have your students turn in their permission slips if they plan to attend.
