District News and Information
A Message from Superintendent Joe Koch
Dear Families,
Fall has arrived and as we enjoy the changes in season and look ahead to the holidays, we have much to celebrate this year. Our students are learning and performing at high levels. The recent release of statewide assessment data shows our students excelling on last year's Forward Exam, PreACT Secure, and statewide ACT tests. Our athletes, artists, and musicians continue to impress us with their talents and they are great ambassadors for our district as they travel to competitions around the state. We have much to be proud of!
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the referendum question appearing on the November 5 ballot. This $89.1 million dollar referendum would cover the cost of remodeling and new construction at Park View Middle School. The anticipated tax impact of the project is $24 per $100,000 of fair market property value. Please visit our website for more information.
We have a few exciting opportunities coming up. The first is Park View in the Dark, being held on Tuesday, October 22, from 6-7:30 p.m. for our students aged 11 and under. The second is the production of Les Misèrables put on by Mukwonago High School. This performance will run from November 7-10. Please consider coming out and supporting these events as well as the many other games and performances this year.
Revised Plan to Replace Park View Middle School on November 5 Ballot
On November 5, a referendum for a mix of new construction and renovation of the 1993 section of Park View Middle School will appear on the ballot. The new plan would create 210,000 square feet of new construction and renovate 32,400 square feet of space. In total, 87% of the facility would be new construction.
The plan would create space to serve 1,200 6th-8th grade students, classrooms and labs for science, technology, engineering, and math courses, a flexible space for student performances, and a gymnasium and fitness area for students and community use.
The tax impact of the plan is $24 for every $100,000 of property value. This is a reduced impact from the April referendum question due to borrowing $13.2 million less, a downward trend in interest rates for public bonds/loans, and prepaying referendum debt for Mukwonago High School, putting the district on pace to have it paid off seven years ahead of schedule.
