Year in Review

As the year comes to a close, we're proud to look back on the incredible achievements and milestones of our department. Here’s a snapshot of the significant events and initiatives that have shaped our year.

Our Programs

Number of students who graduated from our programs in 2023:

ROP Phlebotomy Technician = 22
Professional Welding Academy = 21
ROP Certified Veterinary Assistant = 17
ROP Registered Dental Assistant = 14

Started a new high school ROP Medical and Hospital Careers course for our BCOE Alternative Education schools
Provided a 7-session Career Exploration Module to over 1,000 8th grade students in Butte County
Implemented over a dozen week-long Career Camp experiences for middle-school students in Butte County
Presented post-high school career path opportunities to juniors and seniors at over 15 local high schools and career fairs

Community and Industry Engagement

Community Classroom Experiences: Provided our ROP students with real-world experience at over 40 clinical and industry sites!
Partnerships: Collaborated with organizations such as the Alliance for Workforce Development (AFWD), Glenn County Community Action, Tehama County Job Training Center and Grow Manufacturing
Advisory Members and Institutional Advisory Meetings: Continue to strengthen ties with industry experts and community leaders

Special Initiatives and Plans:

3-Year Strategic Plan: Laying out a roadmap for future growth and development
Dental Assistant Apprenticeship Planning: Pioneering new pathways for student career advancement
Butte/Glenn 8th Grade Career Day: Currently in development for our first annual 8th Grade Career Day with over 2,000 students and over 60 exhibitors signed up from across Butte and Glenn counties!

Closing Thoughts

This year has been one of growth, achievement and community. We’re grateful for the hard work of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students and the support of our partners and community members. As we move forward, we remain committed to providing exceptional educational experiences and look forward to what the next year will bring.
