Meeting the needs of every learner, every day
A Note From Your Principals
With the fall days turning shorter and cooler, we appreciate your assistance and support ensuring that our students are properly dressed for the weather. It is a good idea to make sure that jackets and hats/gloves are labeled with your child’s name. Once the snow begins to fly, plan on sending your child to school with their boots and snow pants as well, as we do hold recess outside during the day as long as the combined temperature and wind chill is above zero degrees Fahrenheit.
On that note, please feel free to reference the following visual that we use to gauge when students do/do not need coats/jackets: CLICK HERE. Outdoor playtime and an opportunity to get fresh air is an important part of our learning day, and we want to make sure your child is dressed appropriately so they can enjoy these activities.
Please have your child practice, practice, practice, and practice some more putting on their outerwear. This means untucking stuck coat sleeves, getting zippers started and zipped, putting on mittens/gloves, etc.! The kids lose so much time outside when they have to wait in lines to get their coats zipped by a school staff member. We teach them to put their coat on first, then hat, then gloves last. The goal should typically be that they can complete the process fully independently, so if you go out to purchase winter gear, please keep that in mind.
Take care,
Greg Nelson, CEPS Principal
Brooke Hauser, CEPS/WIS Associate Principal

Nominate Your Favorite Teacher
Have you heard of the Kohl Teacher Fellowship? Each year, educators across the state are honored with this prestigious award, which involves an intensive application process. That process starts with a nomination; if you would like to nominate a teacher who has made a positive impact and contribution to their students and community, CLICK HERE for more information on how to do that (deadline to nominate is 11/12). If you do nominate a teacher, please email Greg Nelson at nelsong1@mcfsd.org so that they can be recognized if they choose to complete the application process.

KF & 2nd Grade Vision Screening
On Wednesday, November 13th the Lions Club trained vision screeners in conjunction with MSD Health Services will be conducting screening on all Kindergarten and 2nd grade students for vision difficulties, by classroom. This is a simple, non-invasive test using a tool supplied by the screeners that takes a close up picture of their eyes and measures for signs of possible vision difficulties. Families will be notified if the results show any variance from normal range. Please remind your student to bring their glasses or wear their contacts to school that day, if they have them.
If for any reason you wish your child not to be screened (i.e. your student is already screened by an ophthalmologist regularly) or have any questions, please email District Nurse, Stephanie Peplinski at Peplins@mcfsd.org.
AAAAAA CHOOO! Cold & Flu Season
‼️ Please review DHS update regarding increased Pertussis cases in Wisconsin‼️ You can also find information and resources linked in the article. Please reach out to your medical provider with questions, Thank you!

Your child should remain at home until fever, vomiting/diarrhea has stopped for 24 hours without the use of medication.
