BCF BIBLE STUDY
Join us Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 PM for the launch of CMIT South's BCF Bible Study. Our Bible Study sessions will be held every Friday throughout the school year and offer a chance for students to engage in meaningful fellowship while deepening their knowledge and understanding of the Lord. Our theme for this year is "Into Deep" and we look forward to exploring its significance together. We hope to see you there!

CMIT SOUTH SPANISH TUTORING
Are you looking to boost your Spanish skills this year? If so, don't miss the opportunity to attend Ms. Tejeda's Spanish tutoring sessions! She offers personalized assistance for both middle and high school students every Thursday after school from 3:00 to 4:15 PM in room 162. Please encourage your scholar to bring in their water to school or water bottle for refill. The school nor the nurse's office do not provide bottle water or cups to student.
If you know your child is experiencing any of the flu- like symptoms please monitor him/her before sending to school. COVID is still around
ATHLETICS NEWS
CMIT South Athletics Weekly Newsletter
This past week was an exciting one for CMIT South athletics! Our Girls Basketball team made history, while our Varsity Boys put on a dominant playoff performance before narrowly missing out on a second regional championship. As Winter sports wrap up, our Spring sports are kicking off, bringing new opportunities for our student-athletes.
Week Recap
- Varsity Boys Basketball: The team advanced to the second round of playoffs, where they took on Surrattsville HS on Tuesday. From start to finish, they controlled the game, securing a commanding 80-59 victory. In the regional championship, they faced CMIT North in a hard-fought battle. Despite keeping it close for three quarters, CMIT North pulled away in the final moments. Congratulations to our Varsity Boys for an incredible season!
- Varsity Girls Basketball: Making CMIT South history, our Varsity Girls secured their first-ever regional championship! They defeated CMIT North 33-22 in the second round before heading on the road to face Friendly HS. In a tough environment, they came out on top with a 41-37 victory. Their journey continues tonight in Baltimore at 5:00 p.m., where they will take on Forest Park HS in the next round. Best of luck!
- Spring Sports Begin: Tryouts were held this past week for Outdoor Track and JV Baseball, officially kicking off their seasons.
Week Ahead
- Middle School Soccer: Tryouts begin this week as our MS Soccer teams gear up for their season.
- JV Baseball Scrimmage: The team will face Dundalk HS in a scrimmage on Tuesday, March 11.

VOLLEYBALL OPEN GYMS START NEXT WEEK
Volleyball open gyms will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:00-4:30 PM beginning Monday, March 10th. Any high school or 8th grade girls wishing to participate must return a signed Open Gym Permission Slip to Coach Sears or Coach K. Permission slips can be found on the Athletics bulletin board outside the gym or you can print the one below. Participants MUST BE PICKED UP ON TIME. Two late pick ups will result in students no longer being able to attend workouts.
WHO: High School & 8th Grade girls
WHEN: Mondays and Tuesdays (starting March 10th)
TIME: 3:00-4:30pm
WHERE: CMIT South MS/HS gym
Participants must report directly to the gym after school before going to change. Please make sure you have appropriate clothing for workouts (no cropped shirts) and bring your own water/water bottle.

High School Baseball
You still have a chance to join High School Baseball . We want YOU to be a part of our team! Whether you're a seasoned player or just love the game, we encourage all students to come out and showcase their skills.

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
National Junior Honor Society Membership Drive
The Sigma Tau Epsilon Mu Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society at CMIT South Middle School is excited to announce that the membership drive will open on March 10, 2025!
The criteria for selecting eligible, new candidates/members are as follows:
Enrolled for one semester at CMIT South in grades sixth, seventh, or eighth grade.
Obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
Eligible students will be notified and required to complete and submit the following:
Candidate information forms to include recommendations by the communicated deadline for further consideration.
The selection process is as follows:
New members will be selected during the second semester of the school year.
Evaluated based on the service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
Members shall be selected by a majority vote of the faculty council, which consists of five faculty members appointed by the principal.
Special Note: An active member in good standing of the National Junior Honor Society from a Prince George’s County Public School, who transfers to CMIT South MS will be automatically accepted for membership in this chapter. The faculty council will allow the transferring member one semester to attain the membership requirements. Thereafter, the NJHS member must maintain those requirements for this chapter in order to retain his/her membership.
