THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS ITS PACK

Wasco Weekly
May 23, 2025
Dear Wasco Parents and Families,
This is the last parent/principal newsletter of the school year!
It has been my pleasure to be your principal. The absolute best part of my job has been watching your children learn and grow, shepherded by the caring and talented Wasco Staff. I will miss their little faces, their enthusiasm as they enter our school, and even the challenges the staff and I sometimes have to lead them through. I am looking forward to continuing my educational career by navigating my own second grade classroom at Davis Elementary and consider it a huge fortune that I am still a part of this vibrant and innovative school district. I am hoping our paths cross in the future, but until then, I wish you all the best as you grow and cherish your family.
Happy Summer! If you have a moment, I am sharing a mini documentary I shared with the teaching staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. You and the Wasco staff share the challenges of raising children, and it is no easy feat. I hope you will enjoy the beautiful footage, and the shared parenting stories that celebrate how children learn and grow. A Swim Lesson
With kindness,
Mrs. Brennan

A Friendly Reminder from Your School Nurses!!
Please remember to pick up your child's medication by the last day of school. District policy does not allow us to send medication home with students.
Medications that remain at school after Thursday, May 29th will be disposed of per Kane County ROE guidelines. We do not keep medication here over the summer for reuse in the fall.
Emergency Action Plans/Medication Order Forms/Medication
All emergency plans and medication orders must be dated for the 2025-2026 year. Please turn in all forms and medication prior to the start of the school year to ensure safety at school.
Have a fun and healthy summer!!

**Nutritional Thoughts from Organic Life**
If your diet lacks essential nutrients, it can hurt your ability to concentrate. Eating too much or too little can also interfere with your focus. A heavy meal may make you feel tired, while too few calories can result in distracting hunger pangs.
Attention 4th-Graders! Get Ready to Join the Band!
Have you ever wanted to learn a band instrument? You're in luck, because all 4th-graders will have the opportunity to try out the band instruments in late May! These instruments include the flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba and percussion. Students will be able to try the instruments under the supervision of the band director to decide if they would like to join the program next year. All instruments are sanitized between individual students.
The band program pulls students once per week for a 40-minute small group lesson during the school day. These lesson times rotate each week so that the same material isn't missed from the classroom. Band students will also be committing to one morning rehearsal per week before school. These morning rehearsals are a mandatory part of the program, and parents must provide transportation to school on these mornings.
If you would like to opt out of trying the band instruments, please fill out this brief form.
We look forward to exploring the many band instruments with your child soon! If you're interested in learning about the instruments and seeing some videos, please visit our recruitment website HERE. If you have questions about the program, please contact your school's band director:
