THE LITTLE MERMAID JR.

Are you a 1st through 5th grade Trailblazer who wants to participate in our spring production of

The Little Mermaid Jr? Please read below for all of the info on how you can participate!

Read through and complete our online Interest Form to let us know what parts you are interested in. This ONLINE form MUST be submitted by Friday, Dec. 20th by 9pm. We will not accept any late submissions for any reason.

• If you are in 3rd-5th grade, you can audition for a specific character and try out your acting skills. These roles are super fun and some characters also sing solos!

• If you are more comfortable sharing the stage with a group, look for the chorus numbers, which include singing & dancing. These roles are open to students in grades 1st-5th. This is the only option for 1st & 2nd this year as our program has grown so much over the last couple of years.

• Each interested Trailblazer should submit ONE online-only interest form via Google.
• If you have more than one Trailblazer in your home interested, please submit a form for each child.

• If you are an interested 1st-2nd grade Trailblazer, use this form to see what roles are available. Make sure you follow the directions carefully.

• If you are an interested 3rd-5th grade Trailblazer, use this form to see what roles are available. Make sure you follow the directions carefully.
  

Auditions will be held after school in January, our first week back from break.

• Tuesday, Jan 7th from 4:15-7:00pm for 3rd-5th grade.
• Wednesday, Jan 8th from 4:15-6:00pm for 1st-2nd grade.
• These windows of time are estimates and may need to be extended depending on the number of interest forms submitted by Trailblazers.
• Callback invites will be given at the end of the initial audition for grades 3-5 only.

• Each interested Trailblazer will get an initial audition time scheduled on the date(s) above. Thank you for your patience while the interest forms are compiled & sorted and a schedule is created.

• All audition materials (audition scripts, music, etc) are loaded in the online The Little Mermaid Jr. folder.
• Did you choose an acting role? In the online The Little Mermaid Jr. folder find the scripts and become familiar with the lines of the posted scenes. You will run lines with a group at the audition as well as learn part of the finale dance.

• Did you choose a character who also has a vocal solo? If YES, then you MUST email a video singing audition to: the_productions@sumnersd.org.

• Vocal videos are due on or before January 4th. We will not accept late entries for any reason. To be clear, this is required in addition to the upcoming in-person audition in order to be considered for a role with a vocal solo.

• Did you choose the chorus part(s) only? (this is the only option available to 1st & 2nd). You will learn part of the finale dance at your audition. You will not be running any speaking lines at your audition.

• Cast List will be posted in the online The Little Mermaid Jr. folder Friday, January 10th.

• You will be asked to accept or decline your part by Monday, January 13th.

• Permission slips for rehearsal participation will be sent via Parent Square the week of January 13th & must be filled out and submitted in order to attend rehearsals.

• A detailed Rehearsal Calendar with scenes, dance numbers and characters that will rehearse on each day will be released at the parent meeting on Friday, January 17th. You will also be able to access the calendar in the online The Little Mermaid Jr. folder via Google.

• We will begin our journey with a mandatory cast table-read (after school 4-5:45pm) & mandatory parent meeting (5:45pm in the THE Launch Pad) on Friday, January 17th.

• Rehearsals are Fridays from 4:00-6:00 pm, starting January 24th. Not all characters will be required to stay for the full two hours so, be sure to refer to the Rehearsal Calendar in the online The Little Mermaid Jr. folder.

• It is expected performers attend ALL rehearsals they are included in and these dates should be on your calendar.

• Play performances are Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at 2pm and 7pm, at the Bonney Lake High School Performing Arts Center (PAC).

• For the most part, costumes are the responsibility of the performer's family. Costume resources and ideas will be posted in the online The Little Mermaid Jr. folder with a timeline.

• There will be a Little Mermaid 2025 Parent Square group created for the cast families. All communication will run through the Parent Square group. Questions can also be sent to our productions email: the_productions@sumnersd.org
