Schurr Announcements
SCHURR Expectation of the Month: Uplifting
"Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you."
-Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Attendance Rate: Our latest attendance rate was 93.67%. Please continue to go out of your way to show your students your supportive, uplifting spirit. Let's work hard to keep our attendance rate above 95%, our school safe, and our spirit positive. Please greet students with your uplifting Spartan Spirit and engaging 4Cs learning environments. Remind them that they are loved at Schurr. Thank you all for making Schurr special.
Confetti Eggs: Students are not allowed to bring confetti eggs on campus and use them on other students. Breaking these eggs on students is not respectful of our school grounds, and not supportive of our custodians who have to do additional work to maintain an uplifting, clean campus. If we see eggs, we will confiscate. We will have students who have eggs support our school by cleaning the campus. Thank you for your support.
Honorary Service Award (HSA): Schurr's PTSA awarded Blanca Cuevas, Schurr's School Secretary, and Claudia Monreal, TOSA Director of Student Activities, as 2025's Honorary Service Award Winners. They were both recognized for their relentless, selfless dedication to our students and staff on a daily basis. Please join us in honoring all their supportive hard work.
Panorama Survey: Twice a year, we ask our students to complete a Panorama Survey that asks them a number of questions. Our teachers, counselors, and administrators analyze the responses to see how we can make Schurr High School a safer, more positive learning culture. Please take some time during your Extended 4th Period to have complete two short surveys on Tuesday, April 15:
- SEL Competency & Well-Being Measures
- Supports + Environment
Phone Confiscation: Please inform students that we are confiscating phones from students if they are tardy and/or truant during instructional time using their phones. Thank you for your support.
SBAC Mathematics (April 8 - April 11): Thank you for your collaborative support and understanding as we completed SBAC Mathematics last week. We are optimistic about continuous improvement.
Spring Break: Spring Break will start on Friday, April 18. We will have an early release day on Thursday, April 17, dismissing students at 2:30, to start our Spring Break a bit early. We appreciate everyone for working hard in supportive, collaborative manners.
Tardy/Truancy Sweeps: Please remind students that we conduct random tardy and truancy sweeps. Please remind them that we take our "cell phone" boxes to our tardy/truancy sweeps. Thank you.
Spartan Spirit
Gratitude: Thank you to Sandra Gutierrez for adding so much uplifting spirit for our staff. We appreciate your continuous communication through Staff Club. From birthdays, to raffles, to NCAA competitions, to cake days, to so much uplifting communication. Thank you for continuously bringing us together to break bread, have fun, and create an uplifting community for our staff.
Gratitude: Thank you to Garth Kline and Skills USA for representing Schurr High School and MUSD Career Tech Education (CTE) so well. Schurr's Skills USA Team came in 1st Place overall in California. We are immensely proud of your critical thinking, collaboration, and communication as you demonstrated proficiency in digital electronics. We appreciate you representing SHS so well.
Gratitude: Thank you to Daniel Gonzalez and Beginning Theater for their exemplary presentation of Beauty and the Beast. Schurr's thespians dazzled their audience with their critical thinking, collaboration, and communication as they created a memorable evening for the audience and themselves. Thank you for making Schurr shine.
Gratitude: Thank you for supportively greeting students and each other when you first interact. That small moment can make a student's and person day. A "hello, ____" or "good morning, ____" goes a long way to create a safe, positive learning culture. Thank you for your uplifting Spartan spirit.
Gratitude: Thank you for continuing to hand out Spartan Bucks to students who are showing Schurr values and expectations (Supportive, Courageous, Hardworking, Uplifting, Responsible, and Respectful) and the 4Cs (Critical Thinker, Collaborator, Communicator, and Creator).
