Dr. Hazel will lead the FRHSD

Dear FRHSD Community,

I am writing this letter to introduce myself as the Superintendent of Schools of the Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD) effective November 1, 2023. I am honored to have been appointed as Superintendent by the FRHSD Board of Education last evening. I look forward to the exciting and engaging work that lies ahead for FRHSD, including achieving our mission through implementation of our District’s Strategic Plan, Compass 3.0, fulfilling the expectations set forth by the community, and meeting our educational commitment to our students.

As a 30 year educator, it has been my privilege to serve for the past 15 years at FRHSD in many leadership capacities including as Chief Academic Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, and as Administrative Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction. As the Chief Academic Officer for the past 11 years, I have worked side-by-side with Dr. Sampson, administrators, faculty, staff, and all of the stakeholders within the FRHSD community to develop, implement, and evaluate the goals and initiatives outlined in each of the District’s Strategic Plans. During this time, there has been tremendous growth and achievement within the district and, together, we were able to accomplish this while also navigating state budgetary restraints and a global pandemic. I am confident that my work and experiences in our District will result in a seamless transition to Superintendent, where we will continue to work together and build upon our successes.

The initial steps for our work together this school year will include articulating goals set forth in our Strategic Plan, Compass 3.0, and preparing our schools for re-accreditation by the Middle States Association with a comprehensive self-study and evaluation that will foster the continued growth of the District. I appreciate your continued input and support as we embark on these goals and district initiatives.

I look forward to leading and serving the FRHSD Community as your Superintendent of Schools. Through our collaborative work, we will continue to develop confident learners and productive members of society who are prepared for their chosen pathway.
