NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 4 | 27 FEBRUARY 2025
Last week finished with a fabulous P&F Welcome Back Sundowner on the school oval. The event was well supported by a number of families and staff. It was great to see lots of new families mingling with our existing families ... the community spirit was certainly alive! The food trucks provided yummy food, and our Year Eight Mater Dei College students were very creative face painters! Congratulations to those families that left with special gifts. A big thank you to Margaret Quirk MLA and to Daniel Pastorelli for supporting the P&F with door prizes on the night. To our dedicated P&F Committee, well done it was a great way to start the year!
A very excited bunch of Year Six students and staff headed off to camp at Point Walter Recreational Camp on Wednesday. This camp is an important part of the Year Six journey and a great opportunity for our students to foster lasting friendships and make life-long memories. I’m very excited to be heading there this afternoon and evening to spend some time with them! A big thank you also to Mrs Bowman, Mrs Mackie, Mr Mastan and Ms Nguyen for organising such a wonderful experience for our students.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Year One and Two students led a lovely, reflective liturgy all about families. They all did an amazing job! Thank you to the Father Leonard and the staff for preparing the liturgy.
A reminder that the daily attendance roll is conducted at 8:30am each day. If your child arrives after the commencement of the school day, they are required to sign in on SEQTA Kiosk at the front office. If it is a planned absences due to illness or appointments, best practice is to contact the classroom teacher directly or complete the Absentee Form on the website. Additionally, I also ask that parents are to make their way out of the classrooms before 8:30am, or do not enter the classroom after this time, as each class begins their morning with a morning circle, and it becomes very disruptive if parents are still in the room.
Enjoy a wonderful long weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!
God bless

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As I type this, I am overlooking the beautiful Swan River, enjoying my time with the Year 6s on camp. It has been an incredible experience so far, with students embracing the challenges, teamwork, and fun activities that camp has to offer. A huge thank you to Mrs Bowman, Mrs Mackie, and Ms Nguyen for their support and dedication in ensuring the students have a fantastic time.
Shrove Tuesday – Pancake Day! 🥞
On Tuesday, we will be celebrating Shrove Tuesday, and each class will be given pancakes to enjoy. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, a time of reflection and preparation for Easter.
Traditionally, pancakes are eaten on this day because people would use up rich ingredients like eggs, milk, and sugar before the fasting season of Lent began. This long-standing tradition is still enjoyed today as a reminder of the significance of this period in the Christian calendar.
Swimming Lessons – Years 1, 2, 4 & 6
A reminder that students in Years 1, 2, 4, and 6 will begin their swimming lessons next week after the public holiday. Please ensure your child comes prepared each day with their swimming gear, including:
✔️ Bathers
✔️ Towel
✔️ Goggles (if needed)
✔️ Thongs or sandals for easy changing
✔️ Plastic bag for wet items
To avoid mix-ups, please label all clothing and personal items with your child's name.
Students may wear sport uniform whilst swimming lessons take place, to ease with the changing routine!
Have a lovely long weekend!
