Introduction by Mr Ratcliffe, Senior Assistant Headteacher
Dear Parent/Carers of Aldersley High School,
Welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter. It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to share with you a little about myself and my responsibilities in the school's leadership team. As a parent of two children, I thank you for choosing to send your most valuable possession in life to our school. When sending your child to school, you place a lot of trust in the staff and teachers to have their best interests at heart whilst understanding that there may be bumps in the road along the way to success.
As a keen athlete, I will be glued to the TV this summer with many major sporting events taking place including The European Championships in Germany and Olympic & Paralympic Games in Paris. Sport teaches our children vital skills and qualities that they will require throughout life. For example, showing respect to your opponents, preparing yourself in the best possible way to increase the likelihood of success, and finally challenging yourself to push the limits of what is physically and mentally possible. These align beautifully with Aldersley High School’s core values, which was a major factor in attracting me to the school almost three years ago.
Before starting at Aldersley, I taught for 16 years in another of the city's top performing schools, where I had many different roles and responsibilities. My role in school now focuses on leading in safeguarding and attendance. As a parent, I feel both areas are vital to children not only being successful but equally as important, feeling safe and happy. I am proud to be a part of the Aldersley Team and look forward to continuing to work with you to ensure our amazing students thrive in their education.
I hope you enjoy this latest version of our newsletter where we share all the exciting events going on in our school.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Ratcliffe

Recap of Summer Term so far...
Inspire US Year 12 Students
Our year 12 girls have been making Amethyst Sixth proud in the national competition Inspire US. Out of all the teams nationally they have made it through to the finals in London on the 12th July, one of only ten teams to do so across the country.
Their task was to run an inspirational local campaign to have an impact in their community. Sophie Ayeni, Ketsia Mbeleg, Jessica Idahor, and Osato Awo-Osagie are running a campaign called 'The Silent Issue' to raise awareness of domestic violence in their local community. They have run focus groups, assemblies, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns to support this issue in the city. They have been dedicated and worked incredibly hard to get this far, really thinking clearly about how to make a big impact.
If they are successful in July they will be heading to Washington DC to a 'Campaign College' in the week of the US Presidential Elections, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Miss Carter as their mentor and Mrs Bhangal head of Amethyst Sixth are incredibly proud of their achievements.
If you want to support their campaign, please donate to their Gofundme for the Haven in Wolverhampton https://gofund.me/d17fbd05 or follow them on TikTok @ domest_vio.
Congratulations to them on all they have achieved we are all thrilled!
Year 10 Mock Exams
Message below from Mr Archer (Attainment and Standards Lead Year 10) and Mr Rogers (Head of Year 10):
Absolutely amazed by the dedication and enthusiasm of #TeamYear10! Over 140 students showed up bright and early for this morning’s 8am Masterclass, and just as many stayed after school for additional tuition. Their hard work and commitment truly paid off, as they have smashed their first day of mocks with flying colors!
We also want to say a huge well done to all Year 10 students for their amazing attendance at both morning and afternoon tuition sessions. Your impeccable behavior during the exams and your outstanding application and effort are truly commendable. We couldn't be prouder of your efforts and determination. Keep up the fantastic work, Year 10—you are setting an incredible example for everyone!

Mock General Election 4th July & Euros in Form Time
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are excited to inform you about some engaging and educational activities planned for our students during Form Time over the next few weeks. These activities are designed to enhance their understanding of significant current events and foster a sense of community and global awareness.
Firstly, our students will be learning about the General Election. This will include discussions and activities aimed at helping them understand the importance of the democratic process. As a culminating event, we will hold a mock general election on the 4th of July. Students will participate in this simulated election, and we will share voting analytics with them afterward. This will allow students to see how our school's voting patterns compare with national statistics, providing a practical and insightful learning experience.
In addition to this, each Form Group will be assigned a team from the European Football Competition. Students will not only follow their assigned team through the tournament but will also learn about the culture of the corresponding country. To further enrich this experience, Form Rooms will be decorated in themes related to their respective countries, promoting both creativity and cultural appreciation.
We believe these activities will provide valuable learning opportunities and foster a deeper understanding of global events and democratic processes among our students. Your support is crucial in ensuring the success of these initiatives, and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Many thanks for your continued support and should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
