A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
I wanted to highlight a couple of quick but very important notes!
1. PLEASE ensure that your child does not play or enter the playground area beyond school hours as it is being built.
2. We are not having family members at lunch anymore with students as we have VERY busy days right now with lots of activity so we are trying to slow down in some places.
3. IMPORTANT: Fourth grade families!!!
We are CHANGING the clap out to follow the "Moving On Ceremony" on June 12. June 14 is a celebration for our students and staff, as well as our moment to say goodbye to the fourth graders. Focusing on fourth grade
4. Field day lunch is a BBQ! If you want your child to buy lunch tomorrow, that is what it will be but ALL students will get a popsicle.
With MUCH respect and appreciation,
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts
Field Day
Remember that May 31 is field day at RES!! Please have your child dress in comfortable clothing, wear sneakers or a shoe they can run safely in, bring a BIG AND FILLED water bottle, apply sunscreen and.or bug screen at home. You will probably want to pack an extra set of DRY CLOTHES for your child.
Also, we are doing an Olympic theme this year for field day. We are asking students from each grade level to wear a certain color of shirt that day. These represent the colors of the 5 Olympic rings.
All students will also be given a bandana that matches the grade level color to use in the "Opening Ceremony" and to keep.
The colors are:
Kindergarten is YELLOW
First grade is RED
Second grade is BLUE
Third grade is GREEN
Fourth grade is BLACK
VOLUNTEERS
Thank you so much to those who have volunteered to help on Field Day!
If your availability has changed, please update your availability in the sign up genius.
Please park in the lower lot (carpool if possible) and arrive by 8:00 am. Bring water and a cell phone to use as a timer. Volunteer sign in will be outside, there is no need to come in the building.
We are excited for this day!
Family To Do List
- DONATIONS NEEDED!:
- Splits any plant splits if you have them!
- Boxes-Due to the room changes we have to make this year, we are looking for boxes so teachers can easily move belongings at the end of the school year!
A Visit from a HAWK!
Henry Walters and Mahood from Monadnock Falconry came to speak to the fourth graders this week. As a teacher, naturalist, and writer, Henry has found ways to make environmental education a creative endeavor. The children were amazed during his presentation and mesmerized by Mahood, his two-year-old Harris' hawk. Many thanks to the Rye Education foundation for sponsoring this event for the children.
Passion Projects
Memorial Day
We are trying to spotlight our fourth graders as much as we can before they leave! Thank you to our fourth graders to leading our Memorial Day assembly, which honored those who have lost their lives serving our country. Our band was amazing, the students spoke so proudly and eloquently and Jacquie DeFreze coordinated a beautiful ceremony of respect and honor.
RJH Connection
In an effort to create a ONE STOP SHOP for families, we are now publishing the RES and RJH newsletter on Thursdays and sharing the link in one place:)
PTA News
The Rye PTA invites and welcomes all parents to join us on June 10th at 5:00 pm @ RES as Bob Fernald speaks to parents and students (grades 3+) related to ocean safety. Bob is an open-water swimmer who lives in North Hampton. He has swum the English Channel and around Manhattan Island. Bob helps to train Rye lifeguards and knows our beaches very well. He will be sharing his “9 W’s of Open Water Swimming” to help promote the safety of our community as we enjoy the ocean in the coming months.
So that we can prepare for seating and refreshments, please sign up HERE.
We look forward to seeing you on the 10th. Feel free to share this email with any other families that may be interested.
