How We Express Ourselves: Week 3

Lines of Inquiry:

---->Before, we talked about point of view. Point of view is the perspective from which a story is told. It is the way you (as the story teller) see something. We also took a look at the same event from different points of view. Perspective is about understanding different points of view and being thoughtful of what other people think.

----> This week, we will explore similar stories from different cultures or places in the world. We will compare to tell what is the same and what is different. Each person has their own point of view and perspective that is shaped by their experiences and cultural influences. It is important for us to surround ourselves with many points of view!

Listen to the story Little Red Riding Hood. You have probably heard this story before. Think about who was in the story, what they did, why they did it, and how the story ends.

Next, listen to the story Lon Po Po. It is a Red Riding Hood story from China. You may not have heard this story before. Think about who was in the story, what they did, why they did it, and how the story ends.

After you've listened to both Little Red Riding Hood and Lon Po Po, write down and draw pictures to show how the stories are the same and different.

Think about:

• WHO was in the story?
• WHAT happened?
• WHY did it happen?
• HOW did the story end?
