VVSD Staff Spotlight- Morgan Buczkowski, A.Vito Martinez Middle School Nurse
The week of May 6-12, 2024, is National Nurses Week which celebrates the effort, dedication, and sacrifice nurses make every day. Specifically, May 8 is School Nurse Day, which was established to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting.
In VVSD, our school nurses are a vital part of our student services team who support our learners every day. At A. Vito Martinez Middle School, Morgan Buczkowski (Romeoville HS ’18) works in the same school she attended as a student. Morgan started our Spotlight visit by explaining that for a career, she wanted to work in a medical profession that served the community, and how she made the choice to become a registered nurse.

VVSD Has Amazing Community Partners!
In conjunction with the celebration of Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, VVSD accepted a generous donation of books from the Asian Cultural Association of Naperville and Lisle.
ACA’s 2024 book drive is themed "Food, Culture, and Heritage”. because food is more than a symbol of cultural heritage; it serves as a vital medium for expressing our identities through recipes and ingredients handed down across generations. Each book selected embodies this theme from a unique perspective, weaving common threads of Asian American stories that highlight themes of care, love within families and communities, and the pursuit of excellence through diligence and hard work.
Lukancic Middle School Presents “Tapestry”
The award-winning play Tapestry by Craig Sodaro tells the tale of the Queen, grieving over the death of her son, who demands that a weaver create a tapestry that will provide comfort. The woman weaves six tales into her tapestry. The first tells the story of a young woman who must learn about herself. The second concerns two farmers who have a chance at a tremendous fortune, but it may cost them everything. Other tales teach more lessons. Performances are Thu-Sat April 18-20 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Lukancic Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door: $5 for adults, $3 for students
