I know many of you have read the Parking article in the past few newsletters. I feel, for safety reasons, it's best to make a special announcement about this.
Without question, two of the most dangerous time periods for safety in our day are Drop-off and Pick-up. Most of that has to do with parents and family members and not our school staff.
During these two time periods please do the following:
- Realize that Berkshire and Pleasant are both ONE WAY streets during school hours
- Adhere to the posted parking notifications around the school
- Know that all vehicles are to stop for anyone in the crosswalk
When you think that your parking doesn't impact others, consider that you might be wrong. Often times folks parking in non-designated areas creates a traffic flow issue and ends up making others unhappy and angry. Unhappy, angry drivers around the school is a recipe for disaster. Please adhere to the rules so we have a safe environment for all. Recently, I know traffic has been backed up to Main Street on Berkshire staunching traffic for all others traveling on Main.
The streets with access "closest" to the school are designated as drop-off or pick-up and do not allow for parking. Pleasant Ln and Berkshire have some designated parking areas, but not directly in front of the school. If you'd like to park and walk up to drop-off or greet your child at the end of the day, please follow the parking signs on Charlotte.
