The Board of Education provides a "Board Meeting Summary" after each Board meeting. The summary includes a brief description of the main topics and action items. These summaries are not meant to replace minutes. The minutes for each meeting are approved and posted after the next regularly scheduled meeting. We hope these summaries provide some basic information and context around the reports, presentations and action items. Recently promoted 8th grade Hadley Junior High Newcomer students were recognized for their participation in a service project with the Kiwanis Clubs of Glen Ellyn and Glendale Heights. Director of Language Programs Juan Suarez and Hadley Assistant Principal Angelica Love shared details of the project and presented certificates of service to the students.

Hadley Jr. High School Improvement Plan and Data Update | watch

Hadley Junior High School Principal Steve Diveley, Assistant Principal Robert Guzzetti, and Assistant Principal Angelica Love presented Hadley data and school improvement goals. Hadley teacher and Building Leadership Team Co-Chair Gia Kunkel also shared data and goals specifically for staff. Parent Teacher Advisory Committee (PTAC) | watch

Co-Chairs of PTAC Executive Director of Student Services Molly Victor and Benjamin Franklin Elementary School Principal Jeff Burke presented the annual update. They shared the purpose and focus for the year as well as recommendations for 2024-2025.

Superintendent's Report | watch

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. David Bruno introduced Director of Language Programs Juan Suarez to present the annual update about the Title I grant for information purposes only. He shared information about the Churchill Elementary School Title I annual grant plan.

Dr. David Bruno also introduced Assistant Superintendent for Finance, Facilities and Operations Eric DePorter who presented an update on the Full-Day Kindergarten Center project related to permits. He also shared information about the Glen Ellyn Planning Commission presentation and announced their approval. The next step is a presentation to the Village of Glen Ellyn Board of Trustees for approval.

Discussion

Price Increase of School Meals | watch

Mr. DePorter presented a proposal to increase meal prices due to the cost increases of food and service workers. The proposed increase of five percent would start next school year. An action request will be brought to the Board in August prior to the start of the school year.

Technology: Switch Replacement Recommendation | watch

Director of Technology and Innovation Andrew Peterman explained the proposal to replace switches as part of a comprehensive plan to refresh technology that is moving beyond its useful life. He proposes to start with Forest Glen and then move across the district the following year. The Board asked questions and engaged in conversation about the technology details. Mr. Peterman also explained the budget process and e-rate program opportunities.

2024-2025 Special Education Resources | watch

Executive Director for Student Services Molly Victor explained three new resources for special education that are being recommended for purchase.
