Mid-Month: August Dragon Digest

Dear DeSana Families,

The beginning of the school year is packed with events and activities, which is why we are sending a mid-month family newsletter.

As bus dismissal times start to normalize, we will no longer update our bus departure notification form. If we do have a situation where a bus is late, we will post individually the bus route number, and the time it is delayed to the DeSana Middle School Facebook page.

Any student whose family purchased a Dragon Pack will receive a paper ticket that is good for one free entry into our August 20th football game against Piney Grove that kicks off at 6:30pm at Denmark High School. Tickets will be distributed by students' homeroom teacher on Monday, August 19th (any students who are absent on that day can pick them up from their teacher on the 20th). Students are responsible for keeping up with their paper ticket. If a student does not show up to the game with their paper ticket, they will have to pay the normal gate entry fee.

We look forward to seeing you for Curriculum Night on August 29th beginning at 5:45pm. Doors will open at 5:30pm. Parking will be available in the front and back of our building. While students are welcome to attend curriculum night, this evening is geared toward parents and/or guardians. Our curriculum night schedule is posted below. Please reference Parent Portal for your child's schedule; printed schedules will not be provided. We look forward to seeing you soon!

*You will follow your child's schedule from Connect & Thrive through 7th period. Classes will begin promptly at the times listed above.

As a reminder, Friday August 30th is an early release day for students, which means dismissal will be at 1:30pm. We encourage students to bring lunch from home on this day, due to the shortened schedule. Students will be eating in the classroom, so it is our preference that they bring food that does not require a microwave. The last checkout will be at 12:45pm, and the car rider line may pull forward at 1:05pm.

Fall picture day will be Wednesday, September 11th. Please use THIS LINK to pre-order pictures for your child.

If you prefer to send cash or check with an order form, you may send that with your child to give the photographer on the 11th. Please direct your child to pick up an order form from the front office on August 28th. Checks should be made payable to BPI Photography, and cash must be exact.

Pre-Orders are available through picture day, and those packages will deliver back to the school for your child to bring home. You CAN still order pictures after picture day all-year long, but post-picture day orders ship directly home, so there will be a residential shipping charge. BPI guarantees 100% satisfaction. If you are unsatisfied, upon return of your original package, you may receive a full refund. You may also have your student retake their picture on makeup day (October 30th) and BPI will reorder that package for you.
