Inside John Deere's Steel Plow
How Did He Dow It?
In 1837 Illinois blacksmith John Deere saw his friends having trouble plowing thick soil with iron plows. He told himself that steel plows would work better than iron plows. In 1846 His plows were working and he was selling 1,000 plows every year. To the right was one of his original plows.
