November 2017
Transitioning November to December with STEAM
We have had a great November here at Windcrest Library with Mindfulness activities for Heart of Mindfulness Week (Nov 13 - 17), and we also created a bulletin board with QR codes for read-aloud books that can easily be accessed by students. As we end November and transition into December, students prepare for our annual STEAM Carnival taking place at Roosevelt HS and we will also be preparing for some great events in December, including an author visit from Victoria Jamieson and Hour of Code Week from December 4th - December 8th.
QR Code Read-a-loud
Students take turns scanning books they want to listen to on our new QR code bulletin board in the Intermediate building. Students can scan the book they want to listen to and then are linked to a read-aloud of that book.
Mindfulness in Action
WIndcrest participated in the Heart of Mindfulness week November 13th - November 17th. Students read books, and participated in a number of mindfulness activities during the week in their classrooms and in the library.
Robotics Prep
Getting ready! Robotics club students practice working with art bots in preparation for the STEAM festival.
Keeping Mindful
Students practice mindfulness in the library by using Buddha boards to paint with water, which slowly disappears after a few minutes.
